Xany Posted May 30, 2005 Report Posted May 30, 2005 yup.....to keep the rolling diametre as close to standard as possible.
Tiger Posted May 30, 2005 Author Report Posted May 30, 2005 What was the biggest available size on a KE55. It was 13" wasn't it? 14" were not available for that model? I was told 16s aren't a drama to fit and for a roadworthy, there SHOULDN'T be an issue, however, insurance will be pathetic apparently
Super Jamie Posted May 30, 2005 Report Posted May 30, 2005 16s are technically illegal without an engineering cert. depends how likely you are to get defected. tyres would be so skinny too, the ride quality would be crap
kangaroosa Posted May 30, 2005 Report Posted May 30, 2005 I was told 16s aren't a drama to fit and for a roadworthy, there SHOULDN'T be an issue, however, insurance will be pathetic apparently I'm insured with shannons. Full comp and agree value at $4000, costs me around $480/year. Basically, i am allowed to do anything to my car (as long as its roadworthy / engineer approved). No limit basically. Might be worth looking into Shannons for insurance if you have problems.
Redwarf Posted May 30, 2005 Report Posted May 30, 2005 Yep, Both rally cars full comp about $200 a year each.
Tiger Posted May 30, 2005 Author Report Posted May 30, 2005 (edited) Good thing these come in 15"x6.5", hey? Stud pattern 4/114.3 Offset 38mm $US540 for wheels = $AU700.... not bad at all!!! Me considers VERY muchly! Edited May 30, 2005 by Tiger
kangaroosa Posted May 30, 2005 Report Posted May 30, 2005 I honestly think they are the best looking/size wheels that you could use for everyday use. I am considering them too. I'll have to intall Adobe Photoshop again and see what they look like on my car.
Tiger Posted May 30, 2005 Author Report Posted May 30, 2005 when you do.... post up the results... if they look good..... we're going wheel shopping!
NickZ Posted May 30, 2005 Report Posted May 30, 2005 To answer a question from way back. no drama fitting 17", But mine where front wheel fitment...but my RA40 struts fix the front as they clear the strut and just sit at the edge of the wheel arch, look like they where made for it, the rear needed spacers, everything cleared but they sat too far under..i had about 3 inches to the lip of the wheel arch, I now run 38mm bolt on spacers on the rear, they now sit at the wheel arch too. My car is also lowered 2 inches all round.
kangaroosa Posted May 30, 2005 Report Posted May 30, 2005 (edited) Here is my car with Enkei RS6 wheels. (photshopped of course) I'll have a crack at a KE55 tommorow night. It was only a rush job to get a general feel for what they look like - So please don't pick on my handy work. Edited May 30, 2005 by kangaroosa
Tiger Posted May 30, 2005 Author Report Posted May 30, 2005 I like the look of those wheels on the rolla dude! That's settles this thread! Now... pricing! ... and to find out who the HELL stocks Enkei Wheels in VIC.
Tiger Posted May 31, 2005 Author Report Posted May 31, 2005 Well, I was told they are a special order wheel, as not many joints stock them. They CAN be ordered (the RS6s) but I'm looking at $500 per wheel!!!!! For 15s!!!!!! WTF???? I'm better off importing them myself from the states!
demuire Posted May 31, 2005 Report Posted May 31, 2005 Tiger: Doesn't Advanti Racing make a rim that looks rather similar to those? I'm quite sure my ex-housemate used to have a set like them on his SSS Pulsar. No idea if they make it in a RWD offset though.
demuire Posted May 31, 2005 Report Posted May 31, 2005 Is it? Would my +40 (or was it 44?) 16x7 6 spoke Advanti Racing rims qualify as RWD then? If so, they are 4x114.3 so will bolt onto a Corolla  And they're for sale
