Jero Posted May 26, 2005 Report Posted May 26, 2005 Okie dokie. So I'm hoping to buy the damaged CSX thats for sale and would just like a little more insite as to what I need to do to transfer the motor into my KE30. Grim has told me that it will fit with the help of an AE71 or AE86 cross member and engine mounts. As to the gearbox, will I be able to use a 5spd manuel? And what would be recommended. Regarding this driveshaft. What exactly is a driveshaft? I'll search into what it is but just a generalisation of what it is will help. And why would it have to be custom? Thanks in advance. Quote
Redwarf Posted May 26, 2005 Report Posted May 26, 2005 Howstuffworks.com You do realise that this will not be a bolt up jobbie don't you? You will require a different gearbox, you are taking an east west motor, and turning it north south, and you will need a custom tailshaft. (The thingy between your gearbox and diff). More than likely you will need a hydraulic clutch. Personally, start small. Find a 4k or 5K (please don't say 7K), freshen it up, change it over. Everything will bolt in, and you'll have a lot less heartache. Particularly if you're not overly car savy. If you what a 5 speed, find a K50 box. Once again, shoud basically bolt up. Quote
Redwarf Posted May 26, 2005 Report Posted May 26, 2005 My mistake. I was thinking the car on the other thread was a wrong-driver. R Quote
Jero Posted May 26, 2005 Author Report Posted May 26, 2005 So what I want to do is possible. But kinda fiddley. Sounds like it's a little bit too much for me. I just wanted to do a motor and gearbox change to start off. After abit of reading I figured I'm gonna have to change the clutch setup aswell. Quote
kangaroosa Posted May 26, 2005 Report Posted May 26, 2005 Found this in the engine conversion section. Its for a KE70, but i assume its pretty much the same. http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?showtopic=417 Quote
kangaroosa Posted May 26, 2005 Report Posted May 26, 2005 See if you can hunt down a good 4K or 5K I reckon :) I couldn't have said it better myself. I'd be going for a 5K. Wait a minute, I already have. :P Quote
Jero Posted May 28, 2005 Author Report Posted May 28, 2005 So a 4K/5K might be the way to go cause I'm new to this engine stuff? Alright I'll have a look around and see what I can come up with. Thanks alot for the input guys. Quote
Raven Posted June 16, 2005 Report Posted June 16, 2005 I fitted the 4AC to my KE55 using the standard cross-member and 4A engine mounts from an AE71 or AE86 I don't know why you guys are using AE71 or AE86 cross-members when its not necessary. Thats my 2c worth. Mick. Quote
