4kc Small Engine Upgrades

Hey all.

 

Just wondering if there are any small upgrades I can do to my 4KC engine to improve it.

 

Open to any suggestion. Just want to improve it a bit more :wink:.

 

Already upgrading the Carby & Exhaust.

Get the head shaved for higher compression. or 3K head. What mine used to run.

Cheap easy mods

- cold air intake

- play around with the accelerator pump linkage (love to tell you more but gotta have some secrets :wink: )

- remove all engine driven accessories (fan, fuel pump) change to electric.

- for short periods of time, put a switch in to stop the alternator from charging

- thinner oils

- crank your timing up, change springs in dizzy

 

Or bolt in a 5k :wink:

Put a mild reground cam in it. The stock cams are one of the biggest restrictions to improving power in a k series motor.... moreso than the stock carb.

How much and where can I acquire one?

You'd be looking at $100-150 plus post if you have to send it interstate. Places like Tighe Cams in qld can do them for you.

 

You will need to send them a stock cam to regrind.
