David[RL] Posted September 2, 2005 Author Report Posted September 2, 2005 I just got rid of the axle tramp 100% now!!:bash: 1. gear dounuts into 2. dounuts until you stand still and it's smoke everywhere :D I did lowered the rear of the car yesterday: I did buy special tools for adjusting the coilovers today, and started.. lowered a few cm then it began to be hard.. bad threads.. so I will swap for the tarmac suspension, with lower springs and shorter stroke on the shocks.. then I found out why my steering wheel was vibrating between 90 and 110km/h.. really really noisy wheel bearing.. I didn't hear it when I drove because my exhaust is so loud :D so I guess I will park the car for a while, removing rust, a new paint job, buy new discs, pads, and wheel bearings, etc.. then I will make some new mounts for the caliper, because I want more clearance to the rims so I can remove the spacers to get the wheel inside the wheelhouse :D some pictures of the brake clearance problem: as you can see, I can move the caliper about 5mm back.. and maybe even fit wider discs.. ( mine is now 25,4mm wide ) I also have some pictures when I changed the clutch on monday and tuesday this week: as you can see, I managed to break one of the bolts on the flywheel :blinks: luckely I managed to remove it by welding another bolt to it :angrybird: the old and new clutch. still waiting for the trd 212mm clutch and pressure plate.. very nice tool for centering the clutch:D ( wrong spelled, I know.. ) I also did buy some blue samco vacuum hoses, looks nice :D, but I haven't got a picture of them yet.. Medicine_Man Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 Top marks for your clutch alignment tool! :D :angrybird: Quote
Super Jamie Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 isn't it just a gearbox input shaft? that's what i've used for years :D Quote
Medicine_Man Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 I sacraficed a K50 for the same purpose on my car :D Quote
oli Posted September 19, 2005 Report Posted September 19, 2005 really amzing read..David you are hardcore dude! keep the updates and pics coming Quote
David[RL] Posted September 23, 2005 Author Report Posted September 23, 2005 today I finally got the suspension done since my wheel bearings was f@$ked I decided to changed from gravel struts to tarmac struts, with bilstein shocks "400.220"? I guess that's bound/rebound? springs are stiffer than the gravel springs too.. maybe a bit too stiff for road use, but who cares? :( lowered, from: to: now I really need some flares.. can't get my finger between the wheel and fender.. I'm 99% sure I'm going for this look: TA64 WRC Picture pics of the conversion: got better clearance from caliper to the wheel because of the new mounts, now I don't need the spacers anymore :D ( I had 10mm on each side before ) Quote
Teddy Posted September 24, 2005 Report Posted September 24, 2005 holy crap ! Nice ! I have a set of flares to suit a Ke70 / Ae71 .. like yours. They were custom made with a hole heap of others to suit a few other cars; so there is a small amount of modificaion needed for them to completly connect to the guards at the bottom of the flares; Let me know if you are intrested, and ill get some pics for you. this thread rocks :D Quote
David[RL] Posted September 24, 2005 Author Report Posted September 24, 2005 I might be interested, depends how they look and how much you want for them. pictures would be nice ps: the coilovers is set for maximum ride height, but I don't think I'll go any lower.. Quote
mikeys toy[RL] Posted September 24, 2005 Report Posted September 24, 2005 *quote*maybe a bit too stiff for road use, but who cares? your boobs will care...........buy a "bro" dude!!! :D Quote
Super Jamie Posted September 24, 2005 Report Posted September 24, 2005 dude, your car is everyone here's dream :D brembos, the only brakes that can take paint or anodising, and make it non-rice :( Quote
David[RL] Posted September 25, 2005 Author Report Posted September 25, 2005 hehe, thanks :D but I still have many upgrades to do.. I want shorter steering knuckles, ae86 power steering or make some myself, I just don't know if I can make them any shorter than the PS steering knuckles? I also want true 4 link for rear axle, with every rod the same length, that means I have to make new mounts, and they have to be adjustable as well, I guess 7degrees on the diff would be the best setup for good traction.. I also want wattlink, but I guess that will never happend, so I guess it'll just be a adjustable panhard rod.. Quote
oli Posted September 25, 2005 Report Posted September 25, 2005 what struts are they? great thread......... Quote
David[RL] Posted September 25, 2005 Author Report Posted September 25, 2005 what struts are they? I'm not sure, but the red ones is the gravel struts, they look like ae86 struts I guess but the black ones that I use now I'm not sure, since they has different location for the caliper mounts.. maybe someone else know? David[RL] Posted October 31, 2005 Author Report Posted October 31, 2005 a few weeks ago I destroyed my ae86 rear axle with lsd and everything.. I checked it and it seems its the 2 bearings for the pinion and some small damage to the pinion.. I did swap over to my previous ke70 rear axle with welded diff too use it temporary.. today I managed to destroy the ke70 axle too.. seems like it's the left axle shaft?? ( I have only 1wheel drive now hehe ) so it's time for something that will last a bit longer.. hilux 8" maybe? or I can get a ta22 6,7" rear axle, but can I use the lsd from the ae86 axle on the ta22 axle if I swap over axle shafts? I'm so tired of this car now.. every week something new get damaged.. I wish I could afford to buy something better.. the waterpump has started too leak in the little hole in the bottom.. I guess it's a seal or bearing that is damaged.. Quote
