Instead of welding you fill the centre with molten lead or aluminium. A lot less heat stress on the gears and should last longer.

I know there's one in the for sale section at the moment. Otherwise visit some local wreckers.

 

You then have several sources for T series LSD's both new and used.

why not weld it? and yea alloy filling is the other option but i don't see the point, just take it apart and cut some plates and weld them in, you'll brake axels before the diff anyway

I agree, weld it. We welded the spider gears onto the carrier. Never managed to break an axle in over 12 years, but lost a few centers though.

 

If its to be used on the road, don't even think of welding though. A while ago there was talk of how to convert your standard diff to act like a lsd.

I've never done it either but because the temperatures are lower, there is less "damage" to the diff gears. eg they don't become weaker - and to make it a single spinner again all you have to do is melt out the metal :wink:
