Old fella Posted July 1, 2009 Report Posted July 1, 2009 Hey just taken original carby off, going to put the webber carby on, has a 4k adaptor plate, not too sure how its goign to attach to the manifold, bolts from the original carb mount come up and through the adaptor plate, but how does the adaptor plate get secured to the manifold???? awesomesssss ^_^ G`day mate, you have to remove the original studs and then use allen screws/bolts to bolt the adapter to your manifold. If you know someone with a tig welder, get the adapter welded to the manifold and cut out the risk of another air leak. Anyway, good luck. Quote

vagen Posted July 1, 2009 Report Posted July 1, 2009 (edited) use two nuts screw one on then use the other to lock it in place. Turn the bottom nut to remove the stud. you will need to remove all 4 studs and replace 2 with longer ones. Edited July 1, 2009 by vagen Quote
ke71-rolla Posted July 1, 2009 Author Report Posted July 1, 2009 Better than my idea of an angle grinder, thanks heaps mate Quote
ke71-rolla Posted July 2, 2009 Author Report Posted July 2, 2009 ook, so pollution gear eh, tear it off? Quote
philbey Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 Mate don't angle grind em off, how will you get the new bolts into the holes!! haha. Double nut them. If you have a little gas torch give the manifold a bit of heat, you will find it soooooo much easier to get them out as well. Quote
ke71-rolla Posted July 3, 2009 Author Report Posted July 3, 2009 =D thanks guys, should i use gasket glue between the manifold and the adapter plate and between the adapter plate and the carb?, or isn't that necessary?? Quote
Taz_Rx Posted July 6, 2009 Report Posted July 6, 2009 Shouldn't be neccssary if you're using decent gaskets, but won't hurt if you do. HOWEVER - If you do, make sure its a fuel safe goop. Some gasket goop will be eaten by fuel. :sob: Quote
ke71-rolla Posted July 6, 2009 Author Report Posted July 6, 2009 sick, i got some just incase, "resists gasoline oil kerosene, grease propane etc etc" lol, let the installation commence! Quote
ke71-rolla Posted July 9, 2009 Author Report Posted July 9, 2009 webber is on!, took pollution gear off, but now the idling bah, so you turn the car on, it would rev up, then go down to approx 500rpm, kinda spluttering, and then when u revved it up to 4k, it would stay at about 3k......whats going on here? Felix Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 Maybe you need another throttle return spring? Quote
OniBerserker Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 sounds like a vacuum leak did you make sure to block up the emission plugs you removed gear from? Quote
