benzo Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 (edited) Well I decided to sell my beige sedan and most of my parts and just buy a better car to skid, most likely nissan. Meanwhile I was looking for a cheap daily Ended up buying this wagon very cheap off "TOM", great guy to deal with Plans are to get it low in some decent handling suspension, 'mild but flush with stock guards' 14s, and just daily it pretty much Specs 1984 KE70 Corolla S station wagon Engine: Stock 4K, small exhaust which sounds ok Gearbox: K50 5-speed, Xtreme heavy-duty clutch Brakes: stock Suspension: Standard KE70 junk, front shocks are rooted, front lowered a little bit thanks to saggy springs, 2" lowering blocks, Boge Turbo rear shocks Wheels/tyres: front - 14x7 +3 polished MA61 rims (5mm spacers), 185/60 Nankang rear - 14x7 +3 polished MA61 rims (5mm spacers), 185/60 random Exterior: 'non shine' red paint (I might polish it), straightness, rust, chrome guardtrims, towbar Interior: light blue, collapsed driver bucket seat-ish, fluffy dice, factory icy cold A/C, crap Philips tape player with stock speakers and really bad 4" in rear, tacho dash, 360mm Nardi Classic on 65mm HKB boss, ###### handbrake button Now some pics, brace yourself Got a few little things to fix but nothing major (rhs wheel-bearing, inlet leak (either manifold or carby), and a timing belt) Hopefully have some updated pics up soon Cheers, Ben. luke.t. Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 not a bad looking wagon at all mate..... should make for a good daily/parts transporter lol Quote
seabiscuit Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 (edited) Argh. I want a KE70 wagon. They're so practical! Do the rear seats fold down completely to make it Pano style? Edited June 25, 2009 by seabiscuit Quote
LukeAE71 Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 I was going to ask what happened as I read your sig... But now I know :y: Good luck with this thing, seems you are growing quite the love for 4k powered rollas :y: It is my opinion that clean wagons are getting hard to find as they seem to deteriorate quicker than their sedan relatives. This is clean enough for a wagon and a good thing to daily in. Just don't go too overboard with wheels etc otherwise you will be visiting defect city again  I will have to come over and take you in my rolla so you can be converted to 4AGE goodness :y: Quote
benzo Posted June 25, 2009 Author Report Posted June 25, 2009 (edited) looks pretty neat, any plans? Read the post. Fix a few things, get it low on some decent suspension, mild 14s, daily Argh. I want a KE70 wagon. They're so practical! Do the rear seats fold down completely to make it Pano style? Yes they do and there is a fair amount of room in the back actually I was going to ask what happened as I read your sig... I managed to get this pretty cheap and its clean enough to drive around. This will definitely remain alot more street friendly than my sedan, it won't be so low and wheels will not be out guards on this This will not be getting 4age lol, but yeah come over man Taking rhs axle out of sedan today (had new wheel bearings) and putting in wagon, and installing tacho dash and Nardi Cheers, Ben. benzo Posted June 26, 2009 Author Report Posted June 26, 2009 Has matching MA61s on the rear now, and I polished the rust off the the chrome gutter trims. Didn't end up swapping axles, dash cluster or steering wheel as I spent most of the day doing the wheels. My fingers are sore from sanding and polishing.. Have most suspension sorted, hopefully I can have it all here, together and installed next weekend for the Toyota cruise Should handle nicely for a leaf-sprung wagon :y: Cheers, Ben. Quote
TOM Posted June 26, 2009 Report Posted June 26, 2009 I'm glad its going to someone who's going to give it some love mate, although I'm already regretting selling it!! It should handle really well - my last 70 wagon had stock suspension but new shocks and 14" 200B stockies and it seriously handled amazingly - one of the most predictable handling cars I've ever driven, and they are very well balanced for a leaf-sprung wagon! All the best with it mate, you have officially rendered me Corolla-less...for the umpteenth time in my life!! I'm at least 5% less satisfied with life when I'm not driving a KE rolla! Cheers, Tom Quote
benzo Posted June 26, 2009 Author Report Posted June 26, 2009 haha thanks Tom mate It should handle pretty good with the suspension in. Can't wait Hope you find a decent ute soon! Cheers, Ben. Quote
fusion Posted June 26, 2009 Report Posted June 26, 2009 So . . . is this going to be a towing powerhouse :y: Or is the tow bar not going to last long? Also I could kind of imagine straight pipes on a angle, on this thing, would be a unique look :y: Loving the colour though Quote
benzo Posted June 27, 2009 Author Report Posted June 27, 2009 (edited) Haha considering taking rear bumper and towbar off when its lowered, I think they looks better without it. I'm happy with the near stock exhaust on it for the moment. I took the tacho dash out of the sedan and put it in the wagon today along with my Nardi. Whats up with wagon/panelvan rear guards. 14x7 +3 is nearly about 15mm from flush new pics are up there Gave it a little stick down a few side streets today and it goes pretty hard for a stock (possibly original 350,000km) 4K. commercials are so much more fun haha Cheers, Ben. benzo Posted July 7, 2009 Author Report Posted July 7, 2009 Umm so I chucked in some 2-inch lowering blocks thanks to Dave at AJayPS and Boge Turbo rear shocks which were in my beige sedan when I bought it rear is now low and good, front is still gay and repping gangster lean now tomorrow I have to fix a small problem with blocks and rubber mallet rear guards a little oh and I have an idea for a cool exhaust I am looking for an cleaner AE71 wagon (PM me) so all mods are being done so that they can be transfered to AE wagon when I buy one updated pics tomorrow Cheers, Ben.
