Ok so yesterday and today I was out in Stanthorpe on my parents property (dirt track most of the way (ofcourse I would've done a silly thing or two to see what it had) on the way back the idle was fine, idled at about 800, got to my little brothers godmothers house to see how she was, had to move the car out of the road of another car, it was fine, had trouble as usual trying to keep it idle when first kicked over, but it was fine, got one the road again, still fine, on they way home it was idleing a bit low, went out again and it stalled, but was going down fear and just coming off of the clutch so it kicked over again, then it just stopped idleing pretty much and was either stalling or idleing at 250 roughly, eventually got sick of it and pulled the choke out a bit to keep it going when stopped.

Can someone please help, my only guesses are all the dirt road, and bumps, me friend (still on learners) said it is her fault because everything she touches breaks because he alternator stuffed up, please help.

do you guys use e.g.r. valves over there?

the vibrations from the road could have loosened a chunk of carbon and it could have gotten jammed in the port.

The wire hasn't fallen off of the soleniod (spelling) on you carby. The one that stops it from running on. That will stuff up your idle.

it's sorta of fixed at the moment, got my dad to look at it, he just adjusted the idle screw, now when it is warm it revs at grand, if I give it a rev it goes down, but the my friend who is driving it at the moment only give it the tiniest rev and it stays the same.

I'll just get dad to re adjust it again.

guys, what are the effect if my idle is at 800rpm compare to 1000rpm? other then stuck in traffic fuel comsumtion, what are the effect to the engine performance?

hope this is a different question

Engine idling is basically just to keep the engine running, so you don't need to start it again everytime you want to go. So, generally tune it to the lowest you can get it to and still have the engine running (for best fuel economy). I've set mine on my 4AGE up a bit higher because at low RPM my battery doesn't charge and my oil pressure drops very low.

Nil comprehendeh.

Stock idle is, according to the magic book, 600rpm. I personally think that's a bit low. 7-800 would be fine.

7-800 should be fine. Your oil pressure will come up when you rev it back up, don't worry about that.

I just got a bit sick of my oil pressure light coming on everytime I sat at traffic lights and the like, so I raised the idle.
