Not surprising about the install 99% of people don't know what their doing when installing a system in a complex electrics car. Glad its all sorted. yeh i was shocked at what i found, glad its all sorted now though. Finished it all off today only to find the sub that was in there is stuff too :bash: double checked all my wiring and it was all sweet, so got my make to bring around his sub and hooked it up and it worked perfectly so definitely the sub that is stuffed. Didnt have time to go shopping for a new one today. Real happy with how the new set-up sounds though with just the speakers, can't wait to get a sub in there, should sound very nice. Gotta love the good sound proofing in euro cars, just makes it sound sooo much better. No crappy (boot) rattles through the car nickyboy said: mmk, mocked up the colour match, though it looks pretty cool in the darker shade, matches your side mirror as well also did another mock up of how you should really be rollin. don't like it one little bit, grille insert would have to be the same colour anyway to make it look any good. Car is pretty low as it is atm, pretty much as low as i can go without getting the wrong type of attention. Had a cop have a quick sus over the car the other day and he didnt say anything, i think any lower and he would of got the tap measure and defect book out as he looked pretty tempted to anyway lol Any lower would result in rediculus camber on the rear too. I'm happy with how it sits, don't have any scrubbing issues even at full lock over bumps. The tow bar has saved my rear bumper on several occassions though Jono said: keep the bumpers standard i reckon. is this the 24 valve version? yeh the exterior is staying as is, ive seen lots of these merc with more exterior mods and i just don't like them. Makes them look too over done IMO Car is an earlier model so only the 12 valve, has enough power to satisfy for the daily. I think factory quoted power is 164KW Quote
nickyboy Posted August 25, 2009 Report Posted August 25, 2009 it was more or less a joke the final pic of your ride height... i wouldn't expect anyone to have there daily at that height in SA Quote

Would love to have it sit like that but its just not possible when the car gets driven daily, especially seeing as i do alot of K's Quote
13BT_KE20 Posted August 27, 2009 Author Report Posted August 27, 2009 All finished now, only thing left to do it bolt the sub in. Everything else is done, tidied up the wiring to my middle brake light to while i was putting the carpet back in the boot. Took a while, bit of mucking around but looks heaps better. Ill get a pic of it once the sub is bolted in, which I'm picking up over the weekend. Heres a pic of the new headunit and another pic i took of it in the carpark yesterday Quote
13BT_KE20 Posted September 3, 2009 Author Report Posted September 3, 2009 JL audio sub and ported box are in the car now, sounds VERY VERY nice. Just have to organise some brackets to keep it in place. Gave the car a details so took some pics, excuse the crappy phone pics. can't wait to get a decent cam Quote
RA28GT Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 Yay JL! I have a 13w6v2 in my 20 :P Quote
13BT_KE20 Posted September 17, 2009 Author Report Posted September 17, 2009 blew one of the JBL 6x9's, they were already in the car when i got it so they are probably just getting old. So i bought a pair of JVC 360W 4 way 6x9's Quote
13BT_KE20 Posted October 6, 2009 Author Report Posted October 6, 2009 car has had a full detail Quote

13BT_KE20 Posted October 11, 2009 Author Report Posted October 11, 2009 $170 worth of 50mm acoustic foam and several hours of my time has fixed my boot rattle ;) It wasnt too bad before but i HATE boot/numberplate rattles, it just sounds terrible. Anyway it is no more, even when cranked up. Sounds alot better in the car now too, gives it a nice deep bass this is the stuff i used Quote
RA28GT Posted October 11, 2009 Report Posted October 11, 2009 Expensive stuff! That will hold the sound in the boot quite well, although for rattles/vibrations nothing beats dynamat, a bulk pack can be had for around $200. Quote
