crispyke35 Posted June 8, 2009 Report Posted June 8, 2009 (edited) hey guys sorry bout the other topic! ive only been over here for a few weeks so i don't really know any places that build 4k's and work them, so any help will be much appreciated! cheers Hey Mate I'm only new on here too, but i have learnt heaps buy asking the right questions. As a result my KE 35 corolla build has gone heaps smoother. Here's a link to the faq sheet 'how to build a tough K motor' its really useful. CLICK HERE Basically though a 4k will probably never have mind blowing power. so start saving and do a conversion. If however your a p plater like me your stuck with a 4k. So to start here are a few basics - get some extracters - some sort of different carbie, there's heaps on this in the link. - get the engine serviced (do all the filters makes a big difference), they are old tired engines most of the time. - manual box if it's an auto. 4 speeds aren't that bad, but 5 speeds cruise alot easier. your likely though to do a bit of modification depending on what five speed box you end up getting. If you need more info though you need to answer these questions or at least give some similar info. - what are you using the car for? eg Track, daily driver, Drift pig for stuffing around in the wet because old corolla's are rwd (not recommended, but hey I'm not judging). - whats is your budget? -how much work can you do yourself? Cheers, Jacob Edited June 8, 2009 by crispyke35 Quote

Cheers, Jacob Cheers 4 that. its auto at the moment so I'm looking for a manual conversion but i have only been in aussie for a few weeks. So if any1 can help me find a manual conversion would be helpfull. Ill be using the car for a daily driver but i drive on motorway so it needs a bit more power. I'm looking to spend around $1500-$2000.. i can do the extractors and that stuff myself just not the engine work.. do you know of any places in qld that work 4k motors? and sell extractors?? cheers, Trent Quote
love ke70 Posted June 8, 2009 Report Posted June 8, 2009 manual conversion is time consuming, but not too bad to do, just have to pull the whole interior out of the car, which can really suck. i don't know any specific workshops that can help with what you want to do, try ebay or often extractors are for sale on here, if not i think right price exhausts in slacks creek may be able to help you with a new set, no guarantees medicine man lives up your way, and had his carbs tuned up there, might be worth shooting him a PM to find out who it was and talk to them. he had twin side draught carbies though i think, which are quite a few dollars Quote
