Mish Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 Hey all, Relatively new to these forums but I thought I would post up a couple of photos of my KE70 project. It is a 2 door conversion from a 4 door. It’s had the B-pillars moved back about 200mm and the front doors extended to suit. Just picked up the wheels for it this week, I had them sandblasted and then powder coated at my uncle’s powder coating business and polished up the dish and I think they come up Mickey Mouse. Only got the pair for the front so am trying to chase up another pair for the rear, slightly wider ones. It’s going to run a S13 front end with a SR20det with RB20box and R31 diff. Hope ya all like it. Keep Rollin -Mish Quote
LukeAE71 Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 Nice... I have seen pics of this in various forums. It was for sale recently did you buy it? More importantly is it still in SA? Is it registered as a two door? Give us some more info most people would be keen to know :bash: Quote
southslide Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 i don't think it can be registered as a 2door hence it don't have intrusion bars n shit if its the one my mates dad built. but all in all its a realy nice looking car allways thought of someone making it into a track beast!! Quote

Well I just did a little google searching and found a pic of a two door with flat front and got a little excited. This thing needs a flat front conversion then it will look pretty close to a jap TE71. It will be full of delicious awesome and win when this occurs :bash: Quote
Mish Posted June 5, 2009 Author Report Posted June 5, 2009 Yeh I bought it not long ago. It was in SA but I brought it home to melb... I'm in the process of getting it registered. I can't go spending too much money on it yet untill my LX Torana is on the road again as that has been my main project, but it is coming along so hopefully it wont be too much longer till I can start building the KE. machg Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 That's sweet as. So the doors are made from scratch? The conversion could be easier using AE71 panel van doors then moving the B pillars to suit? Quote
e70driftpig Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 oh and u can get the jap spec rear lights off ebay to make it look a lil bit closer to the real thing! Nice car! love the 2 door look~! have you got a link for these jap spec taillights? any pics...I'm keen on a set for mine! josh Quote
love ke70 Posted June 6, 2009 Report Posted June 6, 2009 how much do you know about the car? this is the one that was on ebay? bloke selling it was a rude motherf@$ker when i rung him, was tempted to buy it and bring it up here, ive got full engineering approval to do mine using van doors. i find it hard to believe the doors and pillars were made from scratch, which is what he told me, and that the glass is perspex. would give me no info on how it was done or anything, so i told him to shove it and hung up, he was obviously trying to avoid the question of, can it be engineered, your gonna have a hard time i would imagine, having already done the work then trying to get it approved... can you please take all sorts of pics of the inside, of how the pillar is done, how its finished off, what trims are used etc. just for ideas on doing mine, I'm pretty sure how i wanna do it, and me and the engineer have nutted out the specifics, just interested to see how this one was done. cheers, andy Quote
Mish Posted June 6, 2009 Author Report Posted June 6, 2009 Van doors are quite similar to the length of the doors on mine. Never had a van door to measure against. If someone knows the length of Van doors I would be keen to know. The doors on mine have been made out of 4 front KE sedan doors (the front section chopped just behind the middle and the back section chopped just infront of the middle making 1 long door joined together). The B pillars are the same pillars that have been cut out and moved backwith other upper sill's welded in to fill the hole. The trim is all stock KE sedan interior, still got a bit of modifying to do to the B pillar covers as the pillars are on more of an angle backwards. Quote
Murd 55 Posted June 6, 2009 Report Posted June 6, 2009 i was keen to buy it but wanted it as a daily and would have been a stupid idea. hehe. looks tops thou, well done! Quote
love ke70 Posted June 6, 2009 Report Posted June 6, 2009 mines gonna be a daily/circuit warrior :bash: I measured doors - 2 door 1200mm measured on body line 4 door 945-950 measured on body line thats from a mate of mine, i could measure mine, but havnt been bothered yet did he cut down a rear door to fill the hole or did he custom make the rear section?
