GASRB6 Posted May 31, 2009 Report Posted May 31, 2009 (edited) My 87 hatchs' interior fan only has 2 of 4 speeds working. 1 and 2 don't work but 3 and 4 do ? A/C is still activated on 1 and 2 but the fan dosen't switch on at all. Any ideas that may help me to fix this ? :bash: GASRB6 Edited May 31, 2009 by GASRB6 Quote
cerby Posted May 31, 2009 Report Posted May 31, 2009 the same thing happened in my celica. basically there is a little box somewhere in your car with 4 coils of wire in it. When you move your switch it changes which coil the current flows through. Basically the coils that run the first to speeds have snapped. When i pulled my old one out the coils were so brittle they were like ash! Quote
LukeAE71 Posted June 1, 2009 Report Posted June 1, 2009 Yep there is a little resistor box that has a resistor for each individual speed on your fan. You can buy one from a wrecker for about $10 and just check that all the resistors look ok. When you buy it also ask them where it is located so you know where to remove it from in yours and swap over. In one of my cars it was below the glovebox panel. This was also a Toyota. Hint: Once it is working do not touch it as they get hot mighty quick :bash: Quote
