Budowski Posted May 29, 2009 Report Posted May 29, 2009 Hi guys I'm a simple guy i just want beer and a beef snitty and chips for the main and party pies and nuggets for finger food but for some reason the missus isnt too happy with my selection :rolla: if i mention pizza i think i wont get married lol So of those of you that have been to wedding what have you had that you liked and disliked. And for those of you who havent been to a wedding your imput is greatly appricated too. Template finger food mingling/waiting food - spring rolls, party pies entree - soups, cocktails main - choice of two usaully steak or chicken served with veg or salad so change the template as you see fit would be great to get some ideas of what people would really rather eat. lildvl83 Posted May 30, 2009 Report Posted May 30, 2009 congrats on the engagement! i'm gettn married in january and my fiance and i are the same as you. we want very simple meals and a cheapish wedding. we found that the expensive weddings we've been to were crap and didnt eat the food cos it was too fancy and we didnt know what we were eating :-). we have booked st francis winery cos we found that they have proper meals like steak, chicken and seafood. simple stuff like that. they also do cocktail weddings where they serve finger food (even cheaper again) most places charge about $110 per head minimum, st francis is around $50 per head. hope this helps. cheers kate Quote
Raven Posted May 30, 2009 Report Posted May 30, 2009 I wont be any help either, being part italian, the weddings I've been to have all been fully sick subwoofah stylez and the food is all italian based dishes. :rolla: Quote
coln72 Posted May 31, 2009 Report Posted May 31, 2009 Italian weddings - now that is an experience :rolla: When booking, don't tell them its for a wedding. The price goes way up. We had a choice of red meat and white meat 50/50 of each. People could swap if they wanted. Same with the dessert. Quote
corolla_nut Posted May 31, 2009 Report Posted May 31, 2009 At my cousin's wedding last year they had a buffet style set-up where they had an array of meat, vegetables, snacks and sides, etc that you could go up and use it like a self serve type thing. I thought that was an alright idea. Others have had your choice of 2 or 3 meals, like what has already been mentioned. I really like the buffet idea Quote
Lexxi[ke35] Posted May 31, 2009 Report Posted May 31, 2009 (edited) If there are any vegos/vegans invited you have to make sure there's a meal for them. I went to a wedding when I was vegetarian and they didn't have anything anti-meat. Wasn't a fun experience for anyone involved. But you could do the whole snitty with various toppings on various meats and then something fancy for the other main to suit everyone's wedding expectations, and then for dessert you can't go past a cheesecake of some sort :bash: EVERYONE loves cheescake :y: Edited May 31, 2009 by Lexxi[ke35] Quote
LukeAE71 Posted June 1, 2009 Report Posted June 1, 2009 We had a "classy" buffet style at our wedding with a choice of three different meat dishes, vegies, salads etc. Everyone lapped it up and I don't recall there being any stories of trips to Macca's on the way home. Think about the people you are inviting and what they would want to eat. So many people just organise a wedding with food even they would not want to eat. For an example my old man is a meat and three veg type of guy, so he was catered for. Things like this make the event easier for everyone. Just as an indication, it was $75 per head plus alcohol. You cannot get away with not telling them it is for a wedding, tried that and it doesn't work :bash: Be upfront, and go to places that don't normally specialise in weddings as they tend to be better priced and more inclined to want to impress :y: Quote

You created a fuss about food at someone elses wedding? LOL! Anyway. Get turkey man, everyone loves a good bird. Minus Vegos/Vegans.....but hey....that's why you have a salad bar. Quote

Oh, I assumed that. I was just imagining somebody standing up on a table and screaming across the roam about the food. It seemed funny in my mind. =( Quote
SLO-030 Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 For the finger food id say go with some of them hash browny doodahs. you can get heaps of different fillings and everybody like potato......even vegos Quote
