Zoognoogle Posted May 23, 2009 Report Posted May 23, 2009 Hey Guys I have a 1999 Toyota Corolla Conquest and am looking to do an engine swap. Does anyone know what engine will go into this fairly easily, and reasonably inexpensive but still give good power? Or am i better just to modify the existing engine? The car needs to compy with QLD P Plate laws so no turbos or superchargers. Thank you for any help you can offer. Bob Quote
Redwarf Posted May 23, 2009 Report Posted May 23, 2009 Looks like you're waiting until you're off your P's. No conversions allowed for P plates. Quote
Zoognoogle Posted May 23, 2009 Author Report Posted May 23, 2009 (edited) O really? :D What would everyone recomend engine mods wise? Edited May 23, 2009 by Zoognoogle Quote
Redwarf Posted May 23, 2009 Report Posted May 23, 2009 An even better idea would be to contact Transport to find out what is allowable, and go from there..... Quote
the_van_can Posted May 24, 2009 Report Posted May 24, 2009 Wow, I am another person that wasn't aware of that. Is it something to do with the latest P plate laws that kicked in a year or so ago, or is it just anyone on P plates? Quote

E7loco Posted May 24, 2009 Report Posted May 24, 2009 Wait until you are off your P's and get a 2ZZ-GE... The 99 conquest should have a 1ZZ-FE 1.8l, you will have to check... Lotus use's the 2ZZ-GE engines in the Exige... The Corolla Compressor and Lotus Exige S are SUPERCHARGED! and put out 225 hp (168 kW)(Compressor)-240 hp (179 kW)(Exige S)..... Might be a bit expensive, and over revving can disintegrate the lobe ring in the oil pump causing engine fatality due to oil starvation.... :hmm: The 2ZZ-GE has VVTL-i (valve"lift") so maybe yours has it too (1ZZ-FE)? I don't know much about the "new" breed of Rollas... so you better do your home work... :D Hope this helps.... Ahhhhhh! I just realized you have 'A'E112 in the title..... So you might have a 7A-FE 1.8l in you're Conquest, or some 'A' donk.... If so get a 4A-GZE......... I kinda like the 7A's but 4A-GZE's are the shiz... You'll still have to wait till you're off those P's  Quote

the witzl Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 (edited) yep.... he's stuck with the 7A. PErsonally... i would just be happy with that, and save your dollars for a better car once you get off your Ps. Or buy a house instead. Then by the time you are my age you can afford 5 cars.... damn i wish i had bought some houses at a younger age instead of waiting till i was 25! Edited May 25, 2009 by the witzl Quote
