ballzy Posted May 23, 2009 Report Posted May 23, 2009 hey guys i just got my head of my 3k motor ported and mechined the valves liped and new valve stem seals i just put it all back together and it is running like shit i have done the tappet gap and new oil and i still can hear them really bad the timing isnt goin my way either i set the point and did the timing and it is sounding like I'm running on 3 cylinders it is rough as all hell it has heaps of compression? i just don't understand what is wrong and the temperture is geting in the red but it has new thermo stat? can i please have some advice Quote
philbey Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 Firstly is the thermostat the right way around? What is your compression ratio (NOT Compression Test values)? Did you do the tappets after you warmed the car up? Quote

philbey Posted May 26, 2009 Report Posted May 26, 2009 Generally speaking, your tappets should be gapped when its warm. They will grow in length when they're at operating temp. The running hot may be caused if you're running too much comp, OR your timing might be too far advanced. Quote
