Question About A Sports Exhaust On A 4a-fc

gotta question.. recently i heard from a mate that putting a sports exhaust on the AE92 4A-FC engine, reduces the output power..

 

I'm wondering if this is true or not

If the pipework on the sports exhaust was bigger than two inch diameter and the engine is otherwise

standard then it is more than possible that your mate would lose power.

A good, proper exhaust with extractors and high-flow mufflers/cats/resonators etc should not lose you power. An exhaust which is over-sized or still retains the inherent restrictions of the stock exhaust will most likely lose you some power.

In short, do it right and you won't have any problems. I gained noticeable power from replacing the whole exhaust on my 7AFE.
