furryfrog Posted October 11, 2010 Author Report Posted October 11, 2010 (edited) Ok, In Thailand now and ill be home in 3 weeks. Have seen a few nice KE s getting around here and its made me want to fix mine up. The plan when i get home is to start a new Job, Probably look into electrical apprentiship with a bigger firm comercial side of things. So if all that gets underway i will have some new updates coming on the corolla as the money allows. Things i want to do straight away. *Remount the FMIC so the grill fits on *Spray the FMIC black *Get some xt130 LCAs *Raise the car by 1-2 inches *Wire up my indicators so i can actually drive around. *Make up a Gearbox tunnel to stop the heat getting in the car. *Gear stick boot. Later down the line *New front rotors, bearings and some .. pads (having a mind blank about the pads i use) *Reco the Radiator and move the inlet and outlet for easier routing, fit Coolant temp sensor and water temp sensor into the top radiator tank. *Install my watertemp, oiltemp and oilpressure gauges properly into the dash. *Fit a diff out of something so i can jump on it and not snap axels Thats it for now but i will keep updating this as i remember more things otherwise they wont get done :P Edited December 22, 2010 by furryfrog Quote
JJT036 Posted October 11, 2010 Report Posted October 11, 2010 I reckon this Rocket looks Killer as it sits. You definitely need to Spray the 'Cooler so you keep the Boys in Blue away from ya. :fuzz: I also noticed that you don't have the Chrome Strip that goes across the Bonnet. :hmm: Cheers, Josh  Quote
LXY-642 Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 Good to hear your keeping it man. Plans sound good :) Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 Cool, good to hear the beast lives, and is still loved. :y: Quote
furryfrog Posted October 17, 2010 Author Report Posted October 17, 2010 Yeh i have the chrome bits for the front end in a box under the house, they will all go on when ive done a little panel beating to the bonnet chrome strip. I've been reading up and decided to do a coilover conversion on my struts, probably get the kit from HSD, there is a guy not too far from me that sells them. Will go with 5-6kg springs to make it more streetable just have to do some measuring when I'm home to find out how much to cut the struts down and get my friend to tig everything together. I assume i wont be able to run the stock camber tops but havent gotten that far into figureing it out, if i can get away with xt130s and standard tops ill do that for some time. Yeh car is still loved, i have an issue of trying and failing to juggle too many hobbies at once. Only a bit over 2 weeks till I'm home Quote

furryfrog Posted December 7, 2010 Author Report Posted December 7, 2010 Spent some time today getting the frontmount sorted out, i can now fit the front grill on so thats a bonus. Tomorrow ill get some black paint and spray it, hope the weather holds up. Also have some xt130s on their way from SA, going to put them in when i do a front end coilover conversion then i can sell the sigma arms. Just a dummy fit, need to make up some new brackets for the cooler. Quote
MattyZ Posted December 7, 2010 Report Posted December 7, 2010 looks sweet, when ya paint the cooler black should paint the hoses black to or get some black ones so its completely stealthy keep up the sic work! Quote
LXY-642 Posted December 7, 2010 Report Posted December 7, 2010 Black 3" 90 silicone hoses of eBay for $32 each delivered ;) Looking good mate. Keep up on it. Quote
furryfrog Posted December 8, 2010 Author Report Posted December 8, 2010 Cheers guys. I ended up getting some hoses off a mate who pretty much has his own parts shop in his garage lol. Cooler is sprayed and the brackets also, now the grill has to be secured permanently and thats finished. Time to get started on the coilovers i think. Still not 100% sure on what spring rate to go with. This car is only going to see street work so maybe 5.5kg will do some more reading up on it. Quote
MattyZ Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 f@$k yeah man looks dope black hoses work a treat lovin it mate looks 100 times cleaner with out the cooler showing where to next once the coilovers are done? Quote
furryfrog Posted December 8, 2010 Author Report Posted December 8, 2010 (edited) Once ive done the coilovers ill make a transmission tunnel out of sheet metal to help with the heat and noise. After that i might drive the thing for a bit, ive paid rego twice on this car and driven it under 10 times. Edited December 8, 2010 by furryfrog Quote
furryfrog Posted December 22, 2010 Author Report Posted December 22, 2010 Small update, had some time to work on the car. Had a friend cut and shut my struts by 40mm and weld the HSD coilover sleeves onto my ae86 struts. Went with 5kg springs and KYB MR2 Rear shocks. Also have xt130 control arms in, should really get off my ass and sell the sigmas. Had to do a at home wheel alignment was shocked how much toe there was after changing the arm. Wheels are back on as i had clearance issues with stock rims, RCAs and LCA combo. I decided to swap the rims around as the offset works better without any guard flaring. Took the car for an extended drive, pretty funny watching people trying to look for a done up car when you give it a little boot. (holy shit photobucket is slow for me today) Now I'm running a little positive camber.. maybe time for some NRCAs or a set of strut tops Time to wire up my lights and indicators.. going to be fun.
