vagen Posted May 15, 2009 Report Posted May 15, 2009 (edited) My quest for a dirt cheap race car has come to the point where I modify the stock shocks for much stiffer damping. My question is this are the rear mounts up to handling really stiff shocks? Mod to the shocks will be thicker oil... I'll include photos when I do it Edited May 15, 2009 by vagen Quote
twitchy Posted May 15, 2009 Report Posted May 15, 2009 Dirt cheap mods could as simple as getting some bike shocks, removing the spring & then you can re-valve to suit...... cheaper than some race shocks. Outside the square tiger! :y: Quote
rockinrolla Posted May 16, 2009 Report Posted May 16, 2009 early commadore station wagon rear shocks fit, as they carry a lot more weight than a corolla, I'm using a set of pedder sports rider commadore shocks in mine and they handle fantastic, try and find a rear sway bar as well, from a ke55 onwards. coln72 Posted May 16, 2009 Report Posted May 16, 2009 only use the rear sway bar if you are running a LSD or locker, or if you are only driving on open sweeping corners. If not you will single spin to a stand still in tight corners. Definitely go for the Commodore wagon shocks, work a treat. Quote
bLinded_ Posted May 16, 2009 Report Posted May 16, 2009 The Commodore wagon KYB shocks that fit have the part number 343113 if you do go down that path. Quote
vagen Posted May 16, 2009 Author Report Posted May 16, 2009 UM anyone notice my location? unfortunately no holdens made it here till 2005 Quote
coln72 Posted May 16, 2009 Report Posted May 16, 2009 Didn't do it to the rears, but did refill the front struts with a thicker oil to increase stiffness. Worked well until the oil seals were eaten away. If you do this, use a proper hyrolic oil not engine oil like I used. Quote
19914afc Posted February 11, 2010 Report Posted February 11, 2010 I know this is an old thread but would the commodore rear shocks work on the back of my ke20? Quote
