carmsbody Posted May 15, 2009 Report Posted May 15, 2009 as it says in the topic, i have a w58 gearbox out of my jza80 toyota supra and i am wanting to swap it for a w55. w55 must me in good condition, both boxes can be inspected at a reputable gearbox workshop, so that quality can be assured. anyone interested?? beerhead Posted May 15, 2009 Report Posted May 15, 2009 (edited) I've got a spare W55, might be interested in a swap. So are the rumours true that the late W58 bellhousing pattern doesn't match its predecessors? Edited May 15, 2009 by beerhead Quote
cuzzo Posted May 15, 2009 Report Posted May 15, 2009 I've got a spare W55, might be interested in a swap. So are the rumours true that the late W58 bellhousing pattern doesn't match its predecessors? w58 and 55 are the same bellhousing pattern. Difference in shifter position and ratios Quote
the witzl Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 hmmmm... i am intrigued. I have a W55, but would prefer a W58. Of course i would also prefer the mid-position selector housing like i currently have fitted to the W55. Also, i am in sydney, so don't know if i can help you much :) Quote
love ke70 Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 W55 -4.091 3.566 2.056 1.384 1 0.85 35kg 190 W57 -3.768 3.285 1.894 1.275 1 0.861 35kg 190 W58 -3.768 3.285 1.894 1.275 1 0.783 35kg 230 what do you plan on doing with the W55 to want it? i would have thought the W57 would have been preferential with nicer ratios and a close fifth, unless you have a very torqueless, revvy car? the witzl Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 i prefer the W58 personally - they have really nice ratios and the 5th gear is an actual 5th gear (for highway cruising). Quote
