Medicine_Man Posted May 9, 2009 Report Posted May 9, 2009 been done to plenty of rollas before.. Quote
ae71piggie Posted May 9, 2009 Author Report Posted May 9, 2009 how does it go? looking to take the rolla sliding every now again again to QR reckon that would have enuff power? plus suspension and stuff obviously lol piggie Quote
Medicine_Man Posted May 9, 2009 Report Posted May 9, 2009 Power is not really an issue with a V6, Just not sure how good the handling would be with a V6 in the front end. People use them more as a burnout car when they do that conversion.. Quote
ae71piggie Posted May 9, 2009 Author Report Posted May 9, 2009 yeh thats what u was thinking too heavy what are decent cheap mods to do to a stock engine? cos i wanna keep that engine in it and work it something different i guess piggie Quote
Johno Posted May 9, 2009 Report Posted May 9, 2009 VN motors in corolla's go hard.. handling is another story... If you want to have a ae71 for drift.. you've already got "A series" engine mount's from the 4ac.. just drop a 4age in.. Much lighter and you'll still have enough power for a few slides on the track Quote
corolla_nut Posted May 9, 2009 Report Posted May 9, 2009 Can't you do this to a corolla that isn't in good nic? If you really want a 6 you should put either a 1MZ-FE, a 3MZ-FE, or best still, 2GR-FE. I reckon it would be awesome to see a 2ZZ-GE in an older corolla. Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 The 1mz and 2gr are worth considering for their light weight. Otherwise, v6 isnt the right choice. No steel blocks please with a motor that large, or it will be too hard to handle. If you want to make a drift pig, there are lots of motors that can do it. If you want to up the capacity and go na for reliability then have a look at 3sge, 5sfe, 3rz, something like that, perhaps. Then there's also other companies like Nissan and Subaru that make some interesting motors. If you just want maximum bang for buck, sr20 turbo, ca18 turbo, something thats cheap, inline 4, available in halfcuts all day long and has a tonne of tuning knowledge. If you want to build a nice tidy setup as a project that is all Toyota then maybe a rwd 3sgte, takes some extra work but is worth it in the end. At the end of the day, the easiest way to get the power you desire, not necessarily the cheapest is to build a 4agte for it and use all the mounts and hardware thats in the car. You'd be looking for a 4agze, manifold, intercooler, piping, an old gt28rs, etc etc. Motor bolts in easy, use a cast manifold for strength. Many people claim a nicely maintained stock gze will take years of abuse. The T50 transmission will prove a thorn in your side though. You would end up swapping it for a w55, thats the expensive part. The 4a engine just sits there so nicely, its a hard option to pass over. Balance and handling wise its the right motor for the chassis, as delivered. Quote
sidewaysvc Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 regardless of drivabillity and being street legal is it simple or major problems? have a shell sitting here mate with buick v6 (vn motor) and wanted to combine the two for a hunting buggy who has actually done it before? Quote
seabiscuit Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 been owned by an old man since new so it goes ok just curious I'm thinking of putting a vn v6 in it :) I agree with what corolla nut said. If you say it's a one-owner AE71 it's probably worth a bit of money. I'd sell it and buy a bad example of a KE70 since you're only going to cut the crap out of it and drop a commonwhore motor in it or use it as a drift pig. Otherwise.. Yes, you can put a VN V6 in it if you have the know how and tools to put your know how to good use. Quote
