Hiro Protagonist Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 Are the gearbox and diff the original, standard units? Are the tyres a different size to standard? Plus, on top of that, how did you measure the real speed? GPS? Most car speedos are out by up to 10%, especially an old shagged-out one like you'd get in a KE. Quote
surfer_paul26 Posted May 6, 2009 Author Report Posted May 6, 2009 i think its oringinal gearbox k40 but hopefully getting k50 soon dunno about the diff tyres are 12" which are orignal tested speed out on navman would it change cuz of motor it use to be 3k but now 4k thanks Quote

eiriksmil Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 You can't really expect a 30+ y/o car to not be a little off  Unless it was correct before you swapped the cluster of course, then I'd recommend you to re-position the needle, but there's really no use when it's not constant (ie. doing 10 over at all speeds). Did you keep the stock box when changing from the 3K to the 4K? If they don't use the same gear boxes then, I don't know :hmm: Quote
surfer_paul26 Posted May 7, 2009 Author Report Posted May 7, 2009 umm no didnt keep stock box thanks for the help i was just curious if it could be fixed cheers paul. Quote
Felix Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 I'd say you have 3 choices: a: Put the original gearbox back in. b: Change the speedo drive gears in your gearbox. c: Just drive the thing and learn to adapt. Only do this if your speedo reads faster than what you are actually going. Don't want someone borrowing your car getting you speeding tickets sent in the mail. Quote
