Roo Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 hey well my car is gay, when i put it in reverse it triggers the starter motor to kick over. tryed to chase the wire under the dash but had no luck its was a auto 4k now a manual 4agze anyone got a idea of where to look? cheers Quote
LukeAE71 Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 Is it something to do with the wires that go to the auto box so that it won't start unless in Park or Neutral. How was that wire dealt with when you changed to manual?? It could have been wired to the reverse sensor on the outside of your manual box? The reverse sensor makes your reverse lights work, and is located on the top of a T50 from memory about half way down the box. I guess you can't place the car in reverse without it trying to start but have you checked that your reverse lights work? Quote
Medicine_Man Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 I think he means the reverse power feed has rubbed through the start signal wire and is actually starting the car when he selects reverse gear. check near where your inhibitor switch for the old auto gearbox was. Quote

Medicine_Man Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 yeah, those wires you joined have rubbed through the reverse power feed from what you are describing, look for wires that are exposed.. Quote

Roo Posted May 6, 2009 Author Report Posted May 6, 2009 ok found it was under my drivers seat, wires are all good when i plugged my auto shifter back in and selected reverse it went into and didnt start the car however i heard the click of my circuit open relay turning on. I'm running the wires from the plug on the firewall now for reverse, trying to trace them wires back but they got into the fuse box and i lose them now my loom is contacted under the dash to a black and white wire and a black and orange wire, then to the red and wire wire from the brake pedal would these wires have anything to do with the problem? cheers andrew Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 The only area where the starter wire and reverse switch wires are together is in the little engine loom that connects them. It plugs in near the brake booster and runs the trigger for the starter, reverse lights, temp sender, and oil pressure switch. Id remove it, strip off the conduit or tape and inspect the wires. Its not an auto electricians take on it but its a start. Quote
