SuzukiStockman Posted May 5, 2009 Report Posted May 5, 2009 hey, I'm new to the rolla Club thing, i have a suzuki LJ80 stockman with setup for corolla motor, I'm buying a 5k block minus head, i have a 3k head witch has been ported and shaved heaps, i was wondering if i should run solid lifters or hydraulic? i also have a stock aisan carby, if i jet that, will it be good enough? tojo2 Posted May 5, 2009 Report Posted May 5, 2009 Couple of things you should look into: Does your 5k have dished pistons, and how many cc are your 3k head combustion chambers. Suggest a bit of reseach. Quote
SLO-030 Posted May 5, 2009 Report Posted May 5, 2009 if you have dished pistons and you use a 3K head it will result in lower compression. Taz Rx has a 3K big port head on his turbo 5K. If you have flat top pistons, using a 3K head should raise compression. Apparantly flat top piston 5K's have the same head as 4K's. So putting on a 3K head will do the same as putting one on a 4K (higher comp). The 5K should already have hydraulic lifters. 5K heads have non-adjustable rockers due to having hydaulic lifters. I assume with the right length push rod you may be able to run an adjustable set of rockers (not certain, just a thought) Quote
philbey Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 If you are rebuilding, get a set of new pistons. The ACL pistons have 9cc of dish, vs 22cc of the factory dish. This, combined with a serious head shave might bring your compression up to suitable levels. Quote
SLO-030 Posted May 9, 2009 Report Posted May 9, 2009 "Columbus" pistons have 2 types of dish. One of which is identical to the factory dish. Quote
