3K-B if it is a RELY 3K-B motor for $200 mate a good carby setup I have seen them sell for $500 complete and the cylinder head for a -B motor RARE as id pay heaps to get my hands on one.

 

Even if you decide not to go put a K motor in your car id still say yes to the motor.

The words K series and drifting should not be used together......unless it is wet.

 

If you don't have the skills to do a 4age or the likes into the 55, save your money and just buy a drift ready s13.

well my sr conversion didnt cost me much, brought written off car for $1800, sold $1000 worth of bits, payed 150 for someone to pre-wire my computer, a few grinder blades and gas/wire for the welder, $100 to mod my tank, mind you i do have quite a few hook ups and got a free evo7 intercooler.

 

a n/a setup could be done for quite cheap, 4age, 4g64, sr20, ca18 or whatever you can find, even a 2t/3t would be enough

 

but if your that keen on K series, id just put a sc12 on the side of yor 4k wih a Su car running suck-through

ok so the 3k-b would be worth it just to get the motor if i could get it under say 300.

ok so ill still lookin to getting the motor.

and ill prob just take my time and built it well spend some money on it and get whatever power i can out of it.

if not enough for drift ill just do some rally work i guess

last resort use 3kb head on your 4k with cam, is it actually a proper 3kb bigport? if so you only really need to tidy up exchast ports and wak it on your 4k block, will up compression, i'd go single weber or whateva you find at junkyard :wink: and LOTS of entry speed and you can still have fun, just sucks when you don't have the power to save yourself from a mishap lol

yes its a reall bigport head from what I'm told and twin cars I'm sure ill just hit every corner hard and fast and slide throught them just want some fun it don't have to be competetive at all

Like it says in the "How To Build A Tough K Motor" link I put in before, 3k Bigport heads aren't that

amazing. They are a LOT weaker and it's only a stock port job. You could get another 4k head, which

is a lot stronger and do a port job on that, shave to raise compression it and be much happier with the

result. Although even with any heavily worked N/A K motor, drifting is still basically impossible.

 

We do support your efforts to get into drifting, but it's hard to encourage something that in the end

is going to be a disappointing result.

 

The message here is to save your money and buy something worthwhile!

If you read here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horsepower you`ll see that around 1972

 

car producers changed how they measured horse power. Before 72 they wanted high figure hp

 

for advertising, and after 72 lower figures for tax reasons.

 

My 2c is that youll find the K motor hp differences not to be as big in "real life" as stated on some sites.
