Hey all, Just a question to put out there, what are peoples thoughts on the new look mazda 3?

I work for mazda and I'm really not a fan of them, I think they look horrid.

All thats changed is the appearance, and The 2.5L in the SP model. The other models retain the 2.0L

Upwardly mobile secretaries and less-successful real estate agents will covet them... all women... no man (unless he prefers the company of men) will buy one. As such, performance values are irrelevant.

The MPS is mildly interesting, unfortunately the reverse-halo effect of the base models will ensure it is never a true competitor to the WRX.

The 3 MPS would be alot better, and more of a rival to WRX's if they used the same platform as they did with the 6 MPS which were AWD.

I havent seen a new MPS in the flesh yet but from what i hear it looks far better than the base models.

I will try to get some pictures of a few next week. i had a quick look on the net for some photo's but its easier to just take some during the week.

The MPS3 was never mean't to be a rival of the WRX. It was positioned for the Focus RS/ Golf GTi market. Same goes for the 6 MPS. ie: Liberty etc. The MPS 6 platform was good, but far to heavy. And expensive.

I like the new shape. It updates it in line with the rest of the models. It was looking dated. Disapointed it's not a complete new platform, but the old one was by no means bad. It did suffer from NVH issues, particularly in the hatch, therefore it'll be interesting to see if that's better. It should be.

I had a number of opportunities to drive the old 3 back to back with most of it's competitors, and it was a good thing to drive. If you got over the interior looking like the interior of Darth Vaders helmet. A little black light would light up in black telling you something in black that you couldn't read.....However, I considered it to be one of the best available in that market. Cosidered one for Mrs Dwarf very strongly, before spending a little more for a Golf (and getting a lot more car.)

The update can only be a good thing for Mazda. The old one sold hand pver fist, and I expect the new one to do the same.

As for the looks of the new MPS, the bonnet scoop looks like it will suck in children and small trees. Too try hard for me.

I own the old/current generation Mazda 3 which I think is much better on the eyes. You can call me gender challenged if you like but it makes for a damn nice daily when you drive more than 1000ks per week. I have the luxury model SP23 with Leather and all the fruit.

The new model to me is ugly, it looks like it has undergone a simple facelift/change at the front and back and some of the doorlines have even remained the same. It looks to 'far out' for me. To be honest though I haven't had a close up look I just saw one on the back of a truck being delivered.

Though I would like to give the 2.5 L a whirl, I think it would be a bit of fun as the 2.3L is fun on a daily basis without being an absolute ball tearer.

Thenew interior is awesome i must say, especially the SP25 Luxury. I feel it is very well proportioned. nothing is too far away, the leather feels great, and it isnt as dull as the previous model.

And i have changed my opinion a tad. The new 3 can look good with the right colour choice....ie not a bright colour. Saw one in the silver ("aluminium") and it looks awesome, however it was the SP. Different bumpers, sideskirt, Wheels etc.

The 2.5L in them is good, It has the power to get you up to speed without the effort (compared to a 3k) however its not a peformance car. Just a nice cruise around car.

Got some photo's just need to get them onto the computer.
