Kinser Posted April 19, 2009 Report Posted April 19, 2009 Hey Guys, Well my project has been going super slow (4KTE), got all the parts, just need to put it together. Ive got a 4K-U engine with dished pistons (can tell by the two lumps on the head under plugs 1 & 4). soon ill be getting a head off a regular flat-top 4k (in order to drop CR) my question is is it a straight swap? pull off my head and put the "new" one on? or do i have to swap over the push rods or anything like that? second Q is.. Where can i find ARP Head Studs and Bolt? since i will be boosting, and quite a bit i recon, i want the head to sit nice and tight.. Thanks, David Quote

Thanks, David hey i am currently building up my 4ku as well but going down the highcomp track with a big weber and cam but when you are changing it to a stock 4kc head, the push rods are shorter in a 4ku so you have to use stock push rods out of a 4kc. The head bolts are the same just by the way so don't need different ones. also it will be really no compression at all due to most of the compresion chamber being in the pistons on a 4kU. cheers David Quote

Taz_Rx Posted April 20, 2009 Report Posted April 20, 2009 Leave the CR, it'll be about the same as both Matt's and my engines. Maybe into the high 7 to 1's, but you might as well work it out properly while you have the engine(s) apart. As for the APR's Ihad a hell of a time trying to get some. They came from the States via NZ! Only Toyota that APR list in Aus for head studs is a 7mgte....... :jamie: I wonder why!! Quote
