ancullen Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 Mid-engined, cool. It's similar to something I've been planning. Except I reckon when I get around to doing it I'll use someone's unwanted 4A-C or 4A-F with a 5-speed FWD gearbox. That way it'll be shorter than the one this guy's trying to sell. Plus I can always upgrade to a 4A-G later on (with twin Webers, just because I can!) Quote
Super Jamie Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 puts the mid back into mid engine! certainly one way to take care of a rusty old ke70 :) Quote
ancullen Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 Mid engine isn't as hard as everyone thinks... Get front wheel drive package, mid mount it and the CV's will stick out where you want your rear wheels :D My thoughts exactly. And if you wanted to go crazy :) you could make it 4WS (4-Wheel Steering). But you'd have to reduce the rear steering ratio somewhat, otherwise it might be a bit difficult to control (REALLY sensitive steering). Quote
Super Jamie Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 yeah, hicas is wierd to get sideways with. my mate mitch has an r33 gts-t with basic mods. if you nail it the right way, the lsd kicks in and both wheels spin, the car kicks sideways and the hicas corrects, but overcorrects, then tries to correct that, and overcorrects again. you end up driving down the road, front wheels pointed straight, back just constantly fishtailing side to side until you back off and grab traction Quote
area61 Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 Get front wheel drive package, mid mount it and the CV's will stick out where you want your rear wheels :D or just start with the old mr2 they were basically the fwd 4age setup stuck in the boot... then maybe 4agze mmmmmm :) Quote
demuire Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 (edited) Doesn't matter whether you start with an MR2 or a generic Corolla, same thing. And if you were going to do that, why not go for a 2ZZ? :) Edited May 6, 2005 by demuire Quote
Clown Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 mate made a scratch built one with a telstra engine http://users.tpg.com.au/~buggzy/gemi/gocart1.jpg its ghetto but crazy, Quote
Super Jamie Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 i think that's telSTAR :) imagine a telstra engine. put your foot down and it sounds like a ringing phone Quote
Clown Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 ahahaha yeah thats the one. My heads a bit all over the place at the moment. you just acell and it lights up the wheels. He had to let front tyres down to slow it down a bit (No brakes at the moment) Quote
ancullen Posted May 9, 2005 Report Posted May 9, 2005 always wanted to do that What, let the tyres down a bit? :P Quote
irokin Posted May 14, 2005 Report Posted May 14, 2005 should have picked a better engine than a 4K... I recon a big bike engine (500cc+) would be the way to go... And steer away from using car parts/wheels...too heavy. Quote
