Purpose Of Sa Section

Ok so there has been a topic regarding closure of threads in the SA Section and I had something to add there but low and behold that was closed too. This has been on my mind for quite a while however I never posted it up as I figured it would be closed too.

 

I think it needs to be made clear, and maybe even pinned what the purpose is of the state sections of this forum.

 

It appears at the moment that anything that goes slightly off topic or continues for longer than what the Region Leader considers appropriate then it gets closed. This does not necessarily aid in keeping this area cleaner, just mutes people from having an opinion. The particular thread yesterday that caused a fuss (yes I was posting in it and no I am not offended) was actually carrying on quite a mature discussion/debate so no idea why that was closed.

 

It also appears that when a member posts up something which may be state specific and could do with being left there for a few days it gets locked straight away.

 

So my question is....

 

1. What is the purpose of the state sections and what is meant to be posted here?

 

2. Can some quidelines for the state sections be given and maybe pinned at the top of this section?

 

3. What is not suitable for the state section?

 

I have an opinion on the issue and will post it after I have given it some more thought and also listened to others ideas.

 

At the end of the day this forum should be a place for people to form friendships and comaraderie prior to meeting in the real world (and after where distance prevents us from seeing each other all the time). If we do this by fostering friendly relationships within the SA Section then the forum will grow into quite a good community for Corolla enthusiasts. It is my opinion that this is currently not happening.

 

MYSTIK - please let this topic run. I think it will be interesting to see what the SA forum members have to say about their section. If you close this it just goes to show that people in general are being muted.

all i did was close a thread that had been answered and was offtopic, last topic i closed was before that was a forsale thread and then the thread before that was also asked answered and heading in circles. like i said don't like things pm me or if dispute feel free to take it up with the admin.

No issue with other threads being closed, as what's done is done. We just need some clarification on what to do in this section.

I really think people should stop having a go at Mystik, he's doing a pretty good job and trying to do the right thing and usually the people who do the right thing are those who get the most shit.

 

In terms of what the SA section is action for, I think its a good thing to outline which would stop a lot of the arguments and shit going on, but I think there's also a lot that should be said for common sense. I assume you all have it, use it.

 

Although because it seems not everyone has it [and yes I am known to go a little off-topic and nonsensical at times too] it would be a good idea to lay down some ground rules and have some clear guidence as to what's acceptable and what's not.

the regional section is for posts that relate to things that happen in the state or are state specific. there are other areas on the forum for things like stuff for sale. when you need help from a local member, have questions relating to local government, want to note on a state specific event, and so on. the sa forum is not for chit chat (thats what chat rooms or chat programs are for). when a topic is answered then let it sit but when people start going off topic then we begin to have a problem. if you stick to the topic then all will be fine.

 

also don't have a go at mystik as he is doing what is right. have a go at those people that don't stick to the topic.

Point is, threads get locked for a number of reasons...get over it, move on and if you're not happy about it, pm the moderator that locked it with a good reason of why you think it should be unlocked. Posting is a priviledge, not a right.

JUD, of course posting is a priviledge and not a right. Just like having a drivers licence is a priviledge. If you're a dick on the road and do the wrong thing, you'll be punished. Just like on rollaclub, if you're a dick to other members or just here to start fights then you will be punished. Either a warning or a ban. You should read the forum rules then get back to us to say that posting is a 'right'.

Its comments like yours that gets things locked seriously the mods have already said things will get locked if they go off topic.

No offense dude I'm not 100% on the moderators side when it comes to some things and i also think there could be a more mature way to handle things on the moderators part and also us forum junkies i wouldnt call us members since there is no real club.

 

Its been stated so many times by the moderators "Posting is a priviledge, not a right" so ive come to agree its a waste of time, real life is out there not rollaclub. Join a real carclub do track days, play soccer or chess.

Its been said this isnt a chat room, so don't post anything if you intend to remotely come close to chat.

 

Not trying to stir the pot but i agree with luke, real answers and no locking please just for the moment and some real mature discussion for once or just don't post at all.

 

So far from here and there what ive heard and seen is there a problem that may need addressing with maturity of how somthings get moderated towards SA forum junkies ? go the way toymods did delete the state sections and turn them into events only ?

I'm 24 turning 25 in may.....that has shit all to do with the rules on this forum. I don't have "big internet muscles" as you so delicately put it....i have moderating rights on a forum that people seem to think i need to spend all my spare time cleaning threads and shitfights. And as for the female quote....that right there is what starts the shit. I wont even comment on that for the pure fact that i know i get out on the weekends and during the week when i want to.

 

And posting IS a priviledge....that priviledge can be taken away quite quickly if you so wish.....

The administrators and moderators TAKE TIME OUT OF THEIR DAY to make this forum happen...it's snotty nosed noobs jumping in stiring stuff up that the people who have been here longer than 5 minutes have seen before that causes the trouble, read the FAQ's, and you'll see most of your questions have been answered before...instead of trolling through 10 pages everyday they probably cut down the crap that's been posted so that EVERYONE doesn't have to read the drivel that others post....

Yes, posting is a priviledge. It would be a right if you had to pay to use the forum, but you don't and neither does anyone else, so therefore, consider yourself lucky that you have a place to come to that will allow you to find out more about your car and modifications that can be made to it.

 

This forum is a place to ask questions about anything relating to it's topical nature, which happens to be corolla's. Whether that be engines, transmissions, cruises for them or even what type of wheels for example, you'll find it here somewhere, if it hasnt already been answered.

 

This is a board which has been started to collect informative material about corolla's, not to hear about how you got stung by the cops for driving like a wanker.

 

If you want to talk about that type of thing, install MSN, and invite everyone you want to chat with into a group chat. :jamie:

I'm sure he wasnt directing the driving like a wanker comment at you, but its comments like that, that we get from newer members that cause issues and thus have to be cleaned up, the mods I'm sure spend a f@$k load of their personal time keeping this site going for us so the least we could do is show a little f@$king respect for their work.
