Hey All

 

Its been bugging me for a little while now, but you know the little symbol on alot of corolla oil filler caps

 

Banjo has it as his avatar

What is it?

What does it stand for?

Why is it on lots of toyotas?

It's Toyota in Japanese. And if you ever get any Toyota touch-up paint (I think every new car gets a little can, but don't quote me), it's got the same logo (surprisingly).

Yep. And did you know that back in the day, Toyota used to be Toyoda. However they changed it because it sounded better and the Japanese writing of Toyota (the image you showed) looks better than that of Toyoda (supposedly).

i have a mate in japan, works for suzuki. i'll see if he can tell me what it means.

i know some of the guys i worked with there use to work for toyota motorsport so hopefully they'll know.

No need. It definitely means Toyota. If you want to check, I'm pretty sure it was the current issue of Wheels that has it in there. I think it's got an Adventra and a Territory on the cover.
