17zon Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 Hey Just wondering if i can use the jap spec t18 t50 in my ke70 4age conversion. (i have a complete jap import t18 with the 3tc engine.) or would i need to get a custom bell housing made up.. cheers guys.... Quote
Redwarf Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 Bell housing is different. I believe that you can't just bang a A-series housing on it either. Sell the T series one, buy an a-series one. Problem solved. Quote
adam-__- Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 If you can solve the bell housing issue, I believe the T18 boxes are 20 spline output so you can use your existing (assuming manual) tail shaft and diff. Quote
bruce Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 (edited) With the A-series bellhousing (AE71), the clutch fork is on the left hand side (opposite to the T-series). Edited March 27, 2009 by bruce Quote
kiahn Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 ive just bought a t50 from a 3t motor and have been told that i can use it on my 4age, i think its a jdm one too. i don't know if what i was told is true but i'll try the gearbox on and get back to you on this. Quote
toyota_ae71 Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 (edited) from what i have gathered the A series is 20 spline and T series is 22 spline or vica versa?? edit:input shaft that is Edited March 30, 2009 by toyota_ae71 Quote

kiahn Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 With the A-series bellhousing (AE71), the clutch fork is on the left hand side (opposite to the T-series). i thort A series came in both left and right hand side fork. depending on JDM(RHS) or ADM(LHS) the t series gearbox i have has driver side fork as well, this weekend i will see if the gearbox will fit and get back to you. I'm pretty sure it will if you get the plate(the one between motor and gearbox) from the motor as well, my understanding of this problem is: the stock ke70 tailshaft will fit straight onto the t-18 gearbox due to it being 20 spline, i have been told that a t-18 gearbox will mount onto the engine providing you have the plate from the motor as well. you can use 4age or 3t clutch-pressure plate and flywheel. i'll post up pics of my gearbox on my motor this weekend, hopefully this helps Quote
kiahn Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 (edited) woops pressed button twice  Edited March 31, 2009 by kiahn Quote
corollaart Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 The t18 box also has the long rear extenstion housing as well which should fit ke70 . As far as shifter location ,bell houseing and clutch i m not sure. helpful ha  Quote
kiahn Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 hey i tried my T-18 gearbox on my engine and it doesnt fit, the bellhousing is WAY too big, none of the holes fit up. :y: now i gotta buy another but at least we all learned a lesson, Quote
