demuire Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 Bloody ads, and all them bloody spammers. They're getting worse, I tell ya. So here I am, I innocently go to news.google.com.au, to get my daily update of what's happening in the world. And then I get this pop up. For about 0.632 seconds I take it seriously, and then I see where it's coming from. BLOODY SPAMMERS TRYING TO GET ME TO INSTALL THEIR BLOODY ADWARE!!! *gruff* I'm so glad I'm using Firefox. If it wasn't for Firefox I'd most probably have more adware than I have actual programs... Quote
Super Jamie Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 these pop up all the time for a laugh, try connecting an unpatched 2000 or xp machine (no service packs) directly to the internet. it took my last 2k install <45 minutes to get totally raped to the point it was just unusable i still can't believe how open ie6 is. you can make registry changes, install software, change pretty much anything you like without the user's consent. absolute piece of garbage Quote
wyldephyre Posted April 29, 2005 Report Posted April 29, 2005 I;ve gotten that one before... but I the "You may have whatever" message set off alarm bells.. the writing style is different from standard MS messages... I did a double take, and sure enough, it was in a firefox window. I shitlisted *caselmedia.com* after that. Quote
Super Jamie Posted April 29, 2005 Report Posted April 29, 2005 in kazaa lite, they have a program that replaces your hosts file with a known shitlist, so alot of garbage like that redirects to 127.0.0.1. half the time i get ad banners and popups with my own xitami server giving a 404 Quote
