Grifty Posted March 25, 2009 Report Posted March 25, 2009 Well what i want to basically do is install a kill switch on the ignition like seen in this video... . i want to install it in my AE92, i found the ignition wiring diagram here... http://www.bulldogsecurity.com/New%20Wires...orolla88-91.htm I'm guessing that i have to install the switch on the 12V constant wire. Can someone please confirm this for me? I would also like to know where would be a good place to hide the switch. Thanks Quote

Thanks you could do it to the ignition constant, but also could connect it to fuel pump.. so that when it is in off position fuel pump is off so it wont really run depends on the use for it.. if its to stop theft might aswell do it the right way and buy yourself a decent alarm.. a 2 dollar switch wont stop anything really when its found.. and thiefs will find anything... Johno Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 Good video and it looks like a good idea and quite easy to follow. My consern is if the car wont turn over they will then look for a kill switch. I think it would be better to kill the fuel pump as mentioned above but only the fuel pump. Then if someone is going to start the car you would hear it then 2 seconds later it stalls and the theif freaks out cos he has made noise from starting the car and he does not know why it stopped then he keeps trying to start it and gets no where. You'd proberly catch him in the act then. Quote
Grifty Posted March 26, 2009 Author Report Posted March 26, 2009 id love to do that but i don't think it would work since its a mechanical fuel pump, but someone correct me if i am wrong Quote
13BT_KE20 Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 killing the fuel pump may sound like a good idea, the car will still run for a few k's before dying. My concern is that this will cause damage to the motor due to leaning out as the car runs out of fuel that is in the lines. Smartest kill "switch" ive seen was wiring into a screw under the dash, you simply placed your finger on the screw which ment you acted as the earth and completed the circuit and you then started the car. Almost impossible to pick as long as you keep all your wiring hidden/neat Quote

Da_77_Rolla Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 a quick word of advice....although the kill switch is a good idea...in the video (linked on here) the place that the switch was wired into is one of the first places a theif would look if they were to hot wire the car.. no amount of tape etc will cover up the fact that the original wiring has been tampered with... the best place (if you wish to proceed with the switch) is further underneath the dash back towards the firewall or below (under) a relay panel as they can often look messy with wires..... Swizzat Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 on an EFI car it wont start anyway with a kill switch on the fuel pump because they fuel system needs to be primed first(pressurises the system). when you stop the car (on most EFI's) the fuel pressure will drop over time so unless it gets stolen very quickly they aing going to get far Quote
