KE70MAN Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 hey everybody. i would like more power in my KE70 and i would wish to make about 100kw. i don't plan to swap the engine to 4age or anything if it costs too much but i would be happy even if i get round the 80-90 kw mark also. what i need to know is, what are some easy, farly cheap modificatins that can be done, such as reground cam, porting or anything like that, to achieve my goal, or get me closer to it. any suggestions would be great! also what is an ideal exhaust system? atm I'm running a mild steel press bent (prob less than 2 inch) exhaust and it has a hotdog (performance cat) about half way, and then the normal muffler on the end. now i wouldnt mind having a cannon but is that too rice for u guys? and i don't think i would go stainless steel as its a bit of a waste at this point in time, but deffinetly mandrel bent. hope u can all help out, i gotta beat a :kiwi: EG VTEC civic, heh :D cheerz Carl :y:
Super Jamie Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 if you want 134hp from a 4k, you're going to have to spend a bit of cash. you'd be better to start with a 5k. oversize pistons on 1G rods. get a big valve race port. 10.5 compression. use twin sidedrafts or big SUs, or programmable efi on custom manifold would make tuning easy. try all the cams we suggest in the other 5k thread and dyno them for the quickest then put it in a ke20 and you might beat the civic personally i don't think a K motor is worth spending that much cash on. in a ke70, you can pretty much bolt in a rwd-converted 100kw motor with the right parts, and that would have alot more potential i reckon unless you can do machining and engine building yourself, it would be cheaper to do the 4ag conversion, than make a 100kw 4k
Super Jamie Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 forced induction is cheating :D but definately do-able. a stock 3k with T25 can run a 14.5 quarter in a ke30, with a bigger engine and more engine work you could get a turbo 4k into 13s i reckon
KE70MAN Posted April 27, 2005 Author Report Posted April 27, 2005 thanks for the replies guys.. this may sound stupid and all but what size (ltr) are 3k's 5ks etc etc?? will they fit straight in. is it a basic swap with a 4k, can i use same g/box etc etc..? and does the 5k or 3k have more potential over 4k? and where can i get these? i thought about turboing it, keeping boost very very low.. but it would mean i would have to re-tune the car since its carby. like i can get a turbo easy, and then i could prob modify the stock exhaust manifold for the turbo flange. then all i would need is like oil cooler and catch can, dump pipe and ppaaacshhhhhhh blow off vavle. but what about supercharging? say use a blower off a 4agze? how could i mount this? and how would it al connect up? i don't know much about supercharging so ill need all ur help. what does the value of shaving a hed do? does that then raise compression equaling in more power? what is jetting a carby do? does it cost alot? i suppose i can start with sum sort of carby, electric fuel pump(but i don't see what i connect it up to, since the car dusnt have ecu and shit), and reground cam, pod etc etc maybe a cannon, give it a bit of noise heh cheerz Carl :D
ancullen Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 Let me start by saying I know pretty much f__k all about K-series motors. HOWEVER, I would assume that if you want to bolt a supercharger on, there is going to be some custom work required, such as an adaptor plate to fit the supercharger to the motor. If this is the case, you may as well get the SC14 supercharger from a 1G-GZE rather than the SC12 from a 4A-GZE, as it will make more boost at lower rpm, meaning more power!
