Jimpoole Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 Hi guys, I've always been told that having emissions on your engine reduced your power? Now I've got the old 4k-c, and was just wondering what would happen if I disconnected them? Cheers folks :D Quote
Teddy Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 You will be defected, its against the law. Chances are, you wont get the thing running quite right again either. Time to leave them on :D Quote
Jimpoole Posted March 19, 2009 Author Report Posted March 19, 2009 Not take them off, rather disconnect the wires to see what happened? What kind of copper is going to check emissions controls? Better follow good advice then Thanks mate! Quote
coln72 Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 Most in my experience wont know what to look for on a Rolla. Had an early KE35 which over the years had what pollution gear was there, firstly partly removed with some hoses glued in place (after a motor change) and then removed all together. Shouldn't have any issues with tuning if it is done correctly. Quote
7shades Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 Not illegal to remove if its 'faulty' *cough* loophole *cough* Seeing as most of the valves, filters and hoses will be clogged, missing or incorrectly routed anyway, far better to remove the lot. I always do. But, when you do, make sure to remove everything, not just a few bits and pieces. And don't just disconnect... remove. Plug any holes you have after doing so. Quote
drc_ke20 Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 older cars not much of a drama use to take emissions pipes of early magnas! Quote
