rbfrog Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 (edited) HEY. to cut a long story short I'm having trouble engineering my ke11 v6 with stock transfere leaf set up. ive fited ke 25 crosmember, that fits in fine and the v6 fits in the same spot. so thats all good. now, I'm having trouble trying to work out what steering linkages, steering box, pitman+ idler arm, control arms and struts to use. has any one ever done this. please help Edited March 17, 2009 by rbfrog Quote
nhillau Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 i am doing the same conversion now. i have got a ke20 crossmember and struts bolted up in my ke11. i have currently using the ke11 steering box, pitman arm and using ke20 steering linkages, idler arm etc. this doesnt work properly, i know that so I'm goin to do some more mixing and matching. Nick ok sweet. il do the same, and see what we come up with.i tried excactly what you have and yeah no good. I'm guessing it needs the ke25 box and pitman arm. how does it look for camber as the ke11 is 40mm wider in the top strut bolt up which will cause positive camber Edited March 17, 2009 by rbfrog Quote
rbfrog Posted March 18, 2009 Author Report Posted March 18, 2009 i think its all sorted nhillau if you have any questions just let me know Quote
untubbed_20 Posted March 22, 2009 Report Posted March 22, 2009 Once its sorted, you should write a how-to-do or at least the parts used , as its a common question in this forum cheers darren Quote
rbfrog Posted March 31, 2009 Author Report Posted March 31, 2009 (edited) Once its sorted, you should write a how-to-do or at least the parts used , as its a common question in thisforum cheers darren yeah i will do its almost sorted. believe it or not i borrowed struts out of my r31 skyline drag car and it all seems to work. heres what ive done so far. it might be a bit hard to under stand as just thinkn about my trial and error makes my head hurt. but here goes steering colum, box idler & pitman arms all steering linkages and crossmember from a ke25. chassis needs the front hole redrilled and a suitable crush tube through the rail for the xmember to fit modified ae86 lower control arms as the have large ball joints (to accommodate the weight of the v6) std ke25 steering nuckles the bolt up to r31 struts. but the tapper has been board out to suit the ae86 balljoint r31 skyline struts as they have a large stub axle and a good brake selection and are 114.3pcd ke11 strut tops with a different bearing. il get the part number when its all done and i think il be going coil overs for spring to inner gaurd clearence the cater rods and brakets need to be fited also havnt yet done it but it doesnt look like its to hard iof you know what your doing, but does require cutting and welding as of yet i havnt done the brakes but it will consist of r32 gtst skyline calipers and r32gts 4stud disks. ive choosen r31 as the have larger stub axles with i require for the v6. if you just using a 4 cyclinder either of these will do if you want to use all ke25 the whole thing bolts in and works but every part must be ke25 except for strut tops they must be original ke10/11. u will need caster bushes in the lower control arms as the strut towers on the ke10/11 are 40mm wider than ke25 which will cause slight more positive caster. if you want to run ae86 struts you will need lenghthend ae86 lower control arms( custom made job) or graft ke25 with a ae86 to get the rite length. this also requires a shorter than original ae86 steering knuckle. you can get these from toyo t3 in U.S.A or get them made. they need to be the same length as ke25.... f@$k THAT HURTS MY BRAIN. hope it helps people Edited March 31, 2009 by rbfrog Quote
rbfrog Posted April 1, 2009 Author Report Posted April 1, 2009 scraped the r31 stuf. camber is to far out. needs to much work to use em. Quote
