trav_555 Posted May 30, 2009 Author Report Posted May 30, 2009 Yea i know, stuffs up so much, blows heaps of holes, yea I'm about to weld pipe to my tvis plate need to get that part I made yesterday machined flat. That will happen on monday. Then welding it to the other end of the pipes on wednesday. Hopefully. Then more peices of the jigsaw will be together hahah. FUN! Travis Quote
trav_555 Posted May 30, 2009 Author Report Posted May 30, 2009 Didnt get time to weld on the pipes to the tvis..... Things came up. But the car is going in to get all rust removed around the 15th of june :rolla: I can't wait, ill have a completely rust free shell. Then ill start engine and suspension and bodywork all at once i think, I'm really really REALLY hoping this will be done by October.... But i need to get some form of cash flow apart from my apprenticeship, selling these parts is working, but I'm almost out of parts..... I'm hoping i can make and sell these pedal boxes, and build a business from there. Doing modifications like the pedal box one. Apart from importing parts and selling them its all i can think of... Any ideas people have for me? I dunno just to help a guy out you know. Cheers. Travis. Quote
KE ping it real Posted May 30, 2009 Report Posted May 30, 2009 Hey Trav how about opening a lemonade stand.....haha Quote
trav_555 Posted May 30, 2009 Author Report Posted May 30, 2009 That could work If i charged 50 dollars a glass :rolla: Quote
trav_555 Posted May 31, 2009 Author Report Posted May 31, 2009 (edited) OK Did this today for Mr AE71 AKA Justin. "cut and shut bigport manifold" Now I did not "cut" the manifold I instead plated it, I find this a much nicer way than welding shitty 26yr oldish cast aluminium to more shitty 26yr old cut off cast aluminium, It makes for a much better weld and less distortion/crap. Designed for the normal bigport throttle. Anyway pics: What i started off with, one rwd manifold and one fwd manifold: And what I ended up with, two rwd manifolds: Opinions? trav_555 Posted May 31, 2009 Author Report Posted May 31, 2009 Thanks man, much appreciated, 5 hours, lots of gas, lots of filler wire and patience, and material. I think it all payed off in the end. Cheers Travis Quote
trav_555 Posted June 1, 2009 Author Report Posted June 1, 2009 MMM didnt get much done this afternoon because a grinder with a wire brush attachment attacked me :y: BUT i did start welding up the tvis plate, gonna make the pipes on wednesday i hope, if not thurs :bash: Travis Quote
trav_555 Posted June 1, 2009 Author Report Posted June 1, 2009 Ive found the Watanabe's I want, there not for sale, but these are the specs I want: 14x8.5 -10. They look super hot, and would suit the car perfectly, i think I'm going to be quite the wheel collector ahahah :bash: Cheers. Travis. Quote
Instigator Posted June 1, 2009 Report Posted June 1, 2009 Kudos on doing all the work yourself but I have to ask: Why are you building what is going to be essentially a Silver/Blacktop motor without the extra valves? Admittedly it will be fresh etc but you also talked of building a turbo motor once you're off your Ps. Seems like alot of money for a mild 4age that will be replaced later with a boosted one. And your 170hp figure = 126kw so a 118kw at the fly silvertop with ecu, trumpets and a zorst should see you in the same ballpark. I just put a Silvertop in my ae95. Cost me $1250 for the halfcut with 116k kms on it. Quote
trav_555 Posted June 1, 2009 Author Report Posted June 1, 2009 Yea ive thought of this too, but a silvertop looks tooo modern. + my 16v will sound better than any stock 20v :bash: Cheers Travis Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 Brace yourself for the arrival of one clear cam gear cover in the next few days. Quote
benzo Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 Seems like alot of money for a mild 4age that will be replaced later with a boosted one. I have thought the same... Cheers, Ben. Quote
trav_555 Posted June 2, 2009 Author Report Posted June 2, 2009 SWWEEEEET! Thanks LittleRedSpirit And yea, well moneys money, dosent make a difference if i spend it now or spend it at the club on stuff, id prefer to do something productive with it that lasts (hopefully) longer thna one night :bash: So it costing me money to be replaced a year or so is no worry at all, considering it will go in the black car anyway once turbo one is in this one. Cheers Travis Quote
