blane Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 has anyone here put a 350 chev into a ke30 before? if so any i dears on costs and any tips? Quote
orangeLJ Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 first and foremost, in most states you wont get a SBC corolla legally road registered. If you were to do it on the bodge (for a burnout car etc) and you had alot of spare parts, it wouldnt cost too much. but to pull it off nicely (and safely) you are looking at alot of dollars. Diff, suspension, transmission, the 350 itself, modifications to engine bay, front end (strengthening), steering modifications, custom extractors, trans tunnel modifications, chassis bracing, custom tailshaft etc etc. It would be a pretty big project unless you can do alot of it yourself. EZE10s performance has a V8 corolla burnout car that throws a mean skid, but obviously they can do alot inhouse and that reduces the cost (plus its a driving advertisement) Quote
dfunkt Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 try searching the members rides threads for anyone with a v8 in their cars. rough costs. ke30 shell: $50 angle grinder: $100 cutting discs: $20 sheet metal to make new firewall and trans tunnel: $50 hiring welder and someone skillful to make new firewall and trans tunnel: ~$300 everything else that needs to be modified/upgraded to help control the anchor that now resides in the engine bay: PRICELESS!! (honestly, around $2000 for brake upgrades and stronger diff......and another +$1000 for engineering if going that route) Quote
beerhead Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 5.7L engineerable ? I highly doubt that hey, maybe if you fitted a flux capacitor and went back to 1988 :P No need for transmission tunnel mods if you run a trimatic, just search the club, you'll find madrolla's 253 KE30 somewhere, which had no firewall mods. I bet the biggest problem when you run a taller 350 Block wlll be the V shape of the motor putting the drivers side head in an spot that'll interfere with brake booster. Look at some of the ground work of littleredspirit if you want some more space there using a BMW hydraulic booster, either that or run a remote booster. try searching the members rides threads for anyone with a v8 in their cars. rough costs. ke30 shell: $50 angle grinder: $100 cutting discs: $20 sheet metal to make new firewall and trans tunnel: $50 hiring welder and someone skillful to make new firewall and trans tunnel: ~$300 everything else that needs to be modified/upgraded to help control the anchor that now resides in the engine bay: PRICELESS!! decoop Posted April 5, 2009 Report Posted April 5, 2009 A 350 would fit better than a 308, and the head will be nowhere near the booster. It would be pointless trying to fit a trimatic, different bolt pattern and weak as piss compared to a powerglide. But yeah you will never get it engineered regardless. Quote
styler Posted April 6, 2009 Report Posted April 6, 2009 unregistered burnout car is all you will get out of it, a couple of grand for a pig build is where it starts at... Quote

Completely different to what he want to do by the sounds of it.... Quote
decoop Posted April 20, 2009 Report Posted April 20, 2009 Just to clarify, ke355 is 60k worth of car and is not engineered. He only drives it on the street cos he's a mad prick and cos he can. But it serves my point, as a holden v8 is a slightly wider engine than a 350 you'll have no probs getting it to fit. firewall and trans tunnel mods required. Quote
blane Posted May 19, 2009 Author Report Posted May 19, 2009 just an update. got a ke30 with a 202 in it and ready 4 a 253 to go in. so far spent under 1k on car. and yes it will be a burnout (or if i can do it) track car. Quote
the witzl Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 as a track car.... it would be pretty good on the straights, and completely USELESS everywhere else (braking, cornering, etc) Burnout car, drag car - yeah awesome :y: Personally, if i were to really want a V8 corolla, i would use a 1UZ-FE as they are an all alloy engine and weigh about half what any of the boat achor yank tank V8s do. At least it would still be able to turn a corner without using the guard rail for assistance. Quote
dbr11k Posted May 29, 2009 Report Posted May 29, 2009 is that bullshit or are you for real ? about the ls1 Quote
