sammo[RL] Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 (edited) Can't believe our luck! My brother just bought a ke10 as a project for us. Its a ke10-B, an update 10, with ke11 dash, but still just a K. Apparantly this car spent time in Tokyo, before being inported into Aus. (Has got AMI badges tho) Lived in Darwin, survived cyclone Tracy, although a tree went thru the windscreen and smashed up the dash. Then was shipped to Adelaide, before coming to canberra about 25 years ago. We spotted this car no more then 500 meters from mum and dads house, out front, under a gum tree. The owers were going to sent it to the crusher, we saved it with only a few days to spare! AND we got it for $200!!!!!!!!!! This is about all the rust on the car. Its pretty straight, just poor paint! Edited November 11, 2009 by sammo Quote
camerondownunder88 Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 Nice good save and cheap will look sweet on the road one day. Also any good factory stickers on it try to peel them off and scan them up into my sticker thread I am collecting them from Toyota's. I wanna get a few photo shopped and made like new again for my KE15. Cheers Cameron Quote
Jason KE30 Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 That is an awesome find aye!! Can't really go wrong for $200 can ya? Good luck with the project. Quote
Chobis Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 Absolute bargain! Well done mate. That grille looks pretty good. Be sure to take lots of pics once the work begins. Quote
Rolliac Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 Wow close call ha. Makes me sad to think about all the classics that weren’t fortunate enough to dodging the big crush. Quote
ScottKE1X Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 Havent seen a 68 ke10-b before, does it have the early or late tail lights?? Looks like a bit of work but an awesome find, get into it and get another '10 back on the streets! Keen to see more pics too... Scott. Quote
sammo[RL] Posted March 16, 2009 Author Report Posted March 16, 2009 Thanks guys! Will def get more pics up. At the moment, we just wanna check it out, get under it, see what it needs mechanically, and go from there. Plans include disc brake front end, re do inside, and new paint! Quote
sammo[RL] Posted March 19, 2009 Author Report Posted March 19, 2009 Excuse the crappy phone pics. But as you can see, no rust! Its got a bit of surface rust inside the guard, but thats it. Also AMI build plate says june 1969, not 68. Quote
sammo[RL] Posted June 1, 2009 Author Report Posted June 1, 2009 Progress has been pretty slow, but have got both front gaurds off, Repainting inner gaurds with anti rust/chip paint. Started sanding back rest of the car. Pics to come... Quote
sammo[RL] Posted June 23, 2009 Author Report Posted June 23, 2009 Quick update, the sanding continues...have taken the rear passenger window out, everything appears to be rust free. Boot will need a bloody good clean. Everything is coming together...slowly... Pics are a couple of weeks old... Quote
StasIII Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 Its the same as mine Ke-10 B made in 69... whats the chassis number? might be close to mine Quote
