Gribble Posted March 11, 2009 Report Posted March 11, 2009 If you can use a multimeter check it all yourself, its a 90% probability that just the brushes are worn out. You can replace them yourself for about $20 with a soldering iron. Do a few little other checks too like make sure there isnt voltage drop on the battery wire and check the earthing of it. It could save you some $$ pain. Quote

Rola Drifter Posted March 12, 2009 Report Posted March 12, 2009 Hey mate, If the charge light doesn't come on then you should also check that the bulb behind it isn't blown, but with that being said the same thing happened with mine except my alternator was in good working order but it just wasn't wired in to suit it. Maybe just try a quick wiring test to make sure it's all wired in properly. Like test to see if you have power going to the yellow wire that heads into the plug nearest the battery charge light. & also with what wires are going to the alternator 2. Although if it was charging before & isn't now then best bet would be alternator needs reconditioning or replacing. Good luck mate. Tom Quote
