Wow, some of you take yourselves too seriously. There are those who are actually knowledgeable but far too serious and then there are those who talk crap and expect the rest of us to pay attention. Both are a pain in the backside.

Topic: "A matter dealt with in a text, discourse or conversation; a subject."

Off topic: Anything unrelated to "the subject". Obviously abuse cannot be tolerated.

Some of the useless dribble irritates me too so I do the mature thing... ignore it. Most of the moderators are great but there are one or two who get a real ego trip out of having a go at people. One only hopes that in years to come they reflect on how pathetic they were.

I've also had enough of the ridiculous "state" stereotypes.

My husband and I have attended a number of cruises now, organised by Toyota Car Club, rollaclub and ae82ownersclub, and have caught up with friends who we otherwise would not have "met" outside of the forums. I introduced myself to Lesley at a cruise because I had replied to a post of hers here and recognised her car. Raven and I are friends because we decided to catch up in person following "conversation" here. I followed Benzo a few months ago and we both pulled over to have a chat. Will bought a car from me and me from him. Jason is the ae82 guru who we visit in Sydney along with Mick and the notorious twincam.org Johnny who is a genuine good mate when given a chance. These are just a few examples. We all live very separate lives and I for one am often too busy or too tired throughout the daylight hours to catch up with people. Having said that, we have introduced several members to this forum and/or inspired their interest in corollas in general. One of the things I've learnt: A silent member or a member who refrains from spouting off about all he knows is not necessarily a less knowledgeable or less valuable member.

I appreciate the wealth of knowledge here on rollaclub and other forums. I also respect the administration team and am grateful for the job that they do but it has to be said: Good manners go a long way. There is an appropriate way to get a point across. No member should be treated with disrespect. If everyone keeps this in mind, the forum will continue to grow both in quality and quantity.

I know that most of that was targeted at me, SA has been warned before from moderators for constant 'chatter' in for sale sections FOUND HERE but its not the only place it happens, Most of you that do it are only young and the corolla you just got is your 1st car which you will probably get sick of soon and buy a commodore, falcon, magna or whatever floats your boat (Use this as a 'SAMPLE' not a dig) but other members (including me) have settled down with corollas so will be here for a long time coming and we have seen members come and go, Look at the forum statistics, Do you think that 5000+ members frequent this forum still?

But anyway I'm not a moderator but I am allowed to give my opinion.

Trev, none of my post was targeted at you. I acknowledge you as one of those knowledgeable contributors and enjoy reading discussions you are involved in. I'm sorry if you took it the wrong way.

Furthermore, my husband and I are not amongst the "young" members that you refer to. We've had corollas for years and intend to keep it that way :)

No Trev, I think most of that was aimed at me.

I've worked on the principle for many years that good moderation should not be seen. Recently though I think I've just got tired of being (myself and others) effectively ignored by a small-ish portion of the membership.

All that we have ever asked is for a few simple rules to be followed. Some people seem to be habitually incapable of that.

Thank you to the people who have taken the time to PM and discuss issues with me, I hope I've given you acceptable answers. Those that haven't, feel free. I will always try to give a balanced account of why things have happened.

I have always done what I have felt is right for the board. At no time have I ever done anything for ego. Anyone who knows me properly will support that.

My ideas of what the board should be are very similar to Felix's.

I feel that my time of being a moderator are closing, and as such I will be discussing this with Ben. I'm seriously over it.

Regards,

R

Well, I'm not sure what to say aside from, you guys just lost the war on everything you gripe about. Regardless of what you think you know about what Redwarf (or any of the other moderators for that matter) does, Rollaclub will be a far worse place without him and I'll be damned if I'm going to pick up the slack. You lot can suffer in your own spammy dribble and crap until the site dies a horrible death for all I care. Would certainly save me a lot of time and money every month. What a bunch of ingrates.

Don't Go!!!!! :)

Why is it that a small minority always ruin things?

I think that maybe the people who have the biggest gripes over these off topic threads should be the ones who have to look after them, then maybe they'd think twice?

Red, if you re-read that it actually says that Kim has a respect for the Admin Team.

I agree that the level of moderation on here has increased of late but so has the bad behaviour from members.

Perhaps stop giving out friendly warnings in the Classifieds Section and start dishing out actual warnings. People will soon stop flouting the bumping rules if they realise they will get banned. Bit hard to sell something when you have been banned....

I agree that warnings should be dished out also for spamming but you have to display some leniency, there is deliberate spamming and there is also incidental spamming in my opinion. How many times have people hit the reply button to reply to a friend's topic and posted something without thinking. Then later thinking hey maybe I could have PM;d about that.

I have been accused of spamming but in my opinion just over 100 posts in a 5 month period should not be considered spamming.

New members perhaps need more information/education when they join about what is expected here, etc.

Everyone has something to add to this forum but if all certain members have to add is posting in the off-topic section and they are not willing to share any technical information or offer to help other members with things actually related to cars (which is what this site is about at the end of the day) then they should join a Lifestyle Forum.

C'mon Red, don't take it personal. You do a great job around here. I just think the admin team would be far less worn out if members showed a little respect and moderators didn't take some of the off topic stuff so seriously. I am also one who hates seeing "for sale" threads bumped over and over by spammers and sellers alike but the occasional compliment on a really clean example can't hurt anyone. Some of my compliments have been deleted but I respect that and now don't bother to make them. If it upset me I might've pm'ed you but I understand why you've taken that approach and am grateful that you care enough to keep this forum a tidy place. It's 100 times more pleasant here than on spamcity Twincam.org and even ae86dc. Stay on board.

Rob's (Redwarf) problem goes back before this thread and I tried to bring it to a Admin's attention a few weeks ago (sorry Rob but I think you have a purpose here) and was shrugged off like I was making it up.
