One thing I do like about ICQ is the ability to send offline messages... for those things that don't warrant the effort of sending an email.

I use trillian, so I'm still on ICQ. And MSN. And I don't get ads or fall prey to MS security holes. Good times. Although I must admit, with MSN's new features, I'm under pressure to upgrade. Personally, I don't give a rats. But there are people on my contact list who really like the new features.

i used to use trillian, but got sick of it crashing. i have no friends on AIM, so i said to my icq people "i'll be on msn if you need me" and changed to microsoft's client. turns out they were all on msn too :P

yeah i had a 300,000 number but the account died totally, even icq couldn't get the password out of it!

offline messages was cool until you recieved like 125 of them from an idiot friend :D

i also loved the keyboard shortcuts. i still go for ctrl+shift+i to bring up msn and wonder why it doesnt work :kiwi: i generally like keyboard, i don't need a mouse for most windows operations. it gets a funny reaction from people to see you driving the computer with just keys :y:

christ, what other ancient numbers are emblazened upon my mind?

how about 425577 - my parents phone number when i was 4 years old :D i can't remember any of the phone numbers after that (or even my current home phone half the time) but that one stays there forever!

here's a challenge for you all - what was the name of the company who originally developed icq? which country did they come from?
