jordan_ke Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 KE70 Strutbrace, will it work in a *E3* possibly a stupid question Quote
Taz_Rx Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 Highly doubt it as the strut towers are further apart in the E7. Quote
Falken_KE30 Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 thats not the Only prob Si... the Stud spacing on the top hats are different. KE30 ones sit closer together. AE86 and KE70/AE71 will use the same Brace.. just make sure you get an adjustable one when going from 86 to E7's Quote

greenmac80 Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 noob question but when using adjustable do you adjust to pull in on the towers or push outt? Quote
SLO-030 Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 noob answer. id say push out. don't burn me if I'm wrong. Quote
Taz_Rx Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 (edited) noob answer. id say push out. don't burn me if I'm wrong. I don't think twishing the chassis either way would be a terribly great idea. The adjustment is probably more so to make it fit perfectly!? Edited March 6, 2009 by Taz_Rx Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 ^^^ exactly, no two cars are ever the same, if it fits one ke30, it is not certain to fit the next one. You should try measuring up some of the old holdens, its quite funny what you find! Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 I wouldnt suggest torquing the chassis, sounds like a bad idea. Might be able to accomplish something if you do it on a wheel aligning setup, but if you push the towers apart, you will reduce camber and just generally ruin your wheel alignment. As stated, its for fitting to bent cars. Quote
Falken_KE30 Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 you don't move the chassis with the Brace  ..... as stated over the years the strut towers can either move in or a mm or 2, which is enough for the brace to line up. As for adjustable ones and why, its just handy Quote
philbey Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 I would wind it out slightly to take out any lash in the joints. That way you've got no movement whatsoever, its a solid as it can be. Mind you, the geometry of old Porsche front ends tends to see the strut towers spread outwards not push inward, so I'd be inclined to wind those in to take up the lash. don't go whacking a 12 inch shifter on it and dialing it out all the way though. Quote
Falken_KE30 Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 don't see why, wouldnt that add added stress? i know on the E7 there is a circle ridge bit near the 3 bolts, the strut brace sits on that perfect... mine was about 2mm longer on each side... seemed fine. Found it kept the steering lighter for longer. Quote

Thats what i meant, not fully pushing the struts out but as Tom said just wind it out rather than inwards to take the lash out of it. Quote
