philbey Posted March 6, 2009 Author Report Posted March 6, 2009 Mate that's some good info. The engine builder and I both came up with slightly different compression ratios. He reckoned his figure (whatever that was?) would be fine. I don't know what my overlap is either which will bring compression down. I'm also running 28mm chokes, while kangaroosa and others have run larger chokes on Dellortos, so that might lean me out a bit. I need to mess with my dizzy too. Anyone know the stock advance of a 5k elec dizzy, or how to accurately measure it? I might whack a protractor on the rotor and just rotate it agains the springs to get a better idea. Quote
Browland Posted March 7, 2009 Report Posted March 7, 2009 Thats from one of A. Graham Bells books. His books are some of the best engine tuning books around. You could roughly map the advance curve using an adjustable timing light and the TDC mark of the engine and noting the timing figures at 1000RPM increments up to about 4-5000. By then full centrifigal advance would be reached. You could always run it on Methanol!! Quote
philbey Posted March 8, 2009 Author Report Posted March 8, 2009 I'd like to run an E85 mix but I wanted to iron the bugs out of the build first. Quote
