Hey guys, I'm kinda new to the rolla scene but have always loved them. Anyway i am going to have a look at a ke70 on friday and was just wondering are there anythings that i should be looking for problem wise? He said he has just got the head rebuilt n a few other things... got reciepts for around 2500 for the work done ... also said it has minimal rust in the usual spots(which i don't know where they are n forgot to ask) any help would be appreciated..

Biggest thing to look for in my opinion would be the rust as most (not all though) suffer pretty badly in this area. Around the boot area and rear wheel arches is where most of it is. Also look in the boot, if it has been leaking there will be rust appearing down the sides of the boot area and this will eventually break through to the wheel arches and really means the car will fall apart in the event of an accident. Also look for rust in the engine bay and chassis rails. Bugger it just look for rust everywhere.... :hmm:

Other than that, take it for a drive, see if it drives ok, is it smokey etc?

If it is the standard 4K motor and he has already had repairs done to it sounds like it will be fine.

You have to wonder why someone would spend $2500 on repairs to a 4K though, could have changed it to 4AGE for that money. :no2:

yea or built a mean 4k!

yeah usual spots for rust are rear gaurds, hidden behind mudflaps,

top driverside rear door next to rear windscreen

boot on passenger side

and then everywhere else on car

check under oil cap for sings of blown head gasket, gear changes nicely, clutch feel good, engine sound good, coolant in radiator, the usual

when last service? battery/tyres changed? spare, jack anll that stuff

crash history and do a check on REVS :hmm:

cheers
