drc_ke20 Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 (edited) great diagnosis Trev & JiP! at last the oil saga is finish until.......is it or not???? how much did the HID set you back JiP? hope the coolant leak is an easy fix? Edited March 1, 2009 by drc_ke20 Quote
Taz_Rx Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 Settle Trev, I know you know what you're doing. for $44 or whatever you pay it just not worth NOT shaving it IMHO. Spark plug tubes...... So whats that, I was right!? Quote
JiP Posted March 2, 2009 Author Report Posted March 2, 2009 It was around $100 posted. It doesn't look like the coolant is leaking anymore as i tightened the top rad hose. Quote
Taz_Rx Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 It was around $100 posted. The head to buy you mean? I'm talking machining. Bolting a non-machined head to a motor is like fitting bald tyres to a set of rims!! Yes you can drive it like that, but not for long. Sounds like you might be right now anyway, next time. No its not, You only shave a head if it needs it. Quote
Taz_Rx Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 I still think the head is warped. No its not, You only shave a head if it needs it. How do you even know if it needs it then? I give up. Quote
JiP Posted March 2, 2009 Author Report Posted March 2, 2009 The $100 comment was aimed at the "How much were the HID's" question. Quote
JiP Posted March 3, 2009 Author Report Posted March 3, 2009 Okay, so since there is still a small leak from spark plug no. 2 i'm going to replace all the tubes and rings. Did anyone know that no one does aftermarket tubes? This would explain why when ever i go to the wreckers no k engine has the tubes. So anyway i've had to go genuine. But i also doubt that Toyota will make them for much longer as they only have to by law for 10 years after the last model came out with them. That really sux! Quote
drc_ke20 Posted March 3, 2009 Report Posted March 3, 2009 if i remember correct its not that much from Toyota.$9.00 each for s/plug tubes and $2.50 each for the o`ring.inclusive of gst. Quote
drc_ke20 Posted March 3, 2009 Report Posted March 3, 2009 oh i forgot to tell you that they have all parts in stock, thats here in Penrith Toyota! Quote
JiP Posted March 3, 2009 Author Report Posted March 3, 2009 Yeah I just picked up a set this afternoon. Quote

Don't forget about forklift 5k's and Townaces. I don't think Toyota will stop making then any time soon. :| Quote
Hiro Protagonist Posted March 3, 2009 Report Posted March 3, 2009 Does Toyota still make Townace's? They stopped selling KR42s (which had the 7KE) here in 2003, not sure about overseas. Quote
Taz_Rx Posted March 3, 2009 Report Posted March 3, 2009 Have also been told that Toyota are still fitting 5k's in forks with gas instead of petrol. Don't know if this is true or not but still, being a commercial motor there will be spared a plenty for a few years yet! :| Quote
