Haha I sometimes call myself a single mother of 2 lazy alcoholic teenagers, coz thats how my house feels. Not so much the money, but running around, cooking and cleaning and looking after EVERYTHING as well as all my school stuff while they sit outside and smoke and drink and yell at each other. [even though I'm at school from 8 till 5 and wake up at 5.30 everyday, get home at 7 and have more work than my mum, which isn't an exaggeration as she spends most of her day on the phone to my sister, grandma, her friends and everyone else she can pull two words out of.]

I work hard and pay my taxes just like you.

Why don't I desserve it?

Not having a go, but I'm guessing you didn't pay 14 grand in tax last year like I did.

Not to mention the fact I have been paying tax since I was 14 and am now 28. I guess I deserve it MORE than YOU because I have given them MORE than YOU. At 14 grand for the last 4 years I have paid 56K in tax..... :P

Food for thought and my 2 cents all rolled into one. Damn I am cranky at the moment :D

than wouldnt my boss (millionaire) deserve it more than you??

he earns over the 80k by about 300k so he isnt elligible for the $900. i feel sorry for him, he works so hard for his three boats and his house on the harbour yet he doesnt get the $900 like the rest of us.

I don't agree with it,

But I can't exactly ring up and say "hey, take my $900 back and here is my ideas on the economy"

so I suppose it will pay for one of two things a slab for the shed, or an addition to the deck, some pavers and some plumbing work in the house. (between the missus and myself we will get $1800) So I'm going to be putting it straight back into the pockets of the aussie workers, I figure its probably the best thing I can do with it.

I got this in an email on monday-

This year, taxpayers will receive an Economic Stimulus Payment.

This is a very exciting new program to be explained using the Q and A format:

Q. What is an Economic Stimulus Payment?

A. It is money that the federal government will send to taxpayers.

Q. Where will the government get this money?

A. From taxpayers.

Q. So the government is giving me back my own money?

A. Only a smidgen.

Q. What is the purpose of this payment?

A. The plan is that you will use the money to purchase a high-definition TV set, thus stimulating the economy.

Q. But isn't that stimulating the economy of China?

A. Shut up.

Below is some helpful advice on how to best help the Australian economy by spending your stimulus cheque wisely:

If you spend that money at K-Mart, all the money will go to China.

If you spend it on petrol it will go to the Arabs.

If you purchase a computer it will go to India.

If you purchase fruit and vegetables it will go to Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala (unless you buy organic).

If you buy a car it will go to Japan.

If you purchase useless crap it will go to Taiwan.

And none of it will help the Australian economy.

We need to keep that money here in Australia. You can keep the money in Australia by spending it at garage sales, going to a football game, or tattoos, since those are the only businesses still remaining in Australia.

I have had a rethink about what I wrote, and follow up by saying that no-one actually 'deserves' this money/.

It is designed to be spent to stimulate the economy and maintain employment etc.

I however do not agree with giving it to people who received it the first time around. Friends of ours are going to get $5600 after this payment. I doubt they even paid $5600 in tax last year.

This payment should have had some sort of means testing applied to it, rather than an earnings testing. But at the end of the day it is too hard, and all they really want to do is get money out there to be spent.

Will I be spending it, hell yeah!! I work hard, pay my taxes, mortgage etc get no assistance from Centrelink (never have and prob never will) so I am spoiling myself and getting my ecu installed and tuned so I can finally drive my Rolla again.

To everyone, get out there and spend it!! F%$k yeah :D :P

orangeLJ the reason i ended up deciding id spend my money on getting rims polished and some panels fixed is becuase they are both services and i KNOW the money is going straight into the pocket of an aussie, and one of them is a mate who will probably shout me a few beers at the pub so its a win/win situation.

I guess you have a point.

But there's also the thought that you probably earn alot more than me. And in 14 years I probably would've paid just as much tax (give or take a bit). This is a 1 off thing I'm led to belive. I guess we could argue all day but in the end...it's up to the goverment to decide.

You're 14?

My 900 will probably go towards coil overs or engine conversion for ke70

I wont be getting the $900 even though it would really help me out to get the car painted or paying off the credit card.

I didn't do my tax last year and now i'm a sub contractor with a ABN :D

I heard on the news on the way home in my car that everyone should be warned about an e mail that is getting sent to people. It explains that you will be getting a payment from Mr Rudd and you need to reply to the e mail to get the payment. It asks information about your account numbers, DOB, address and other personal info. If you receive it, delete it immediately.
