SLW42 Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 (edited) can ae86 pop up lights be put onto an ae71???? EDIT: just another random idea i thought might look alrightish Edited February 17, 2009 by mr ae71 Quote
Jason KE30 Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 I'm guessin if it is possible that you would have to get an ae86 front end with the lights mechanism. That's to say that the both have the same chassis/mounting points. Quote
Trev Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 AE86 front onto an E7 is doable and has been done but I have not seen a treuno front on one altho I don't see why it wouldnt fit.\ Quote

trav_555 Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 yea thats what I'm doing now that ive smashed my expensive flat front light (th non pop up ae86 lighs) should look beast on my kit, but should i mod the flat front to fit them or buy ae86 front end another front kit? cheers Travis Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 Lets not forget a complete, good condition AE86 trueno front end is worth around $2000, for all the panels, front bar, lights etc. That's a pretty expensive item to cut up and adapt to a car worth under a grand like a KE70. I'm not saying don't do it. It would look decent I think. I'm just saying be aware of the costs before you get too carried away. Quote
LukeAE71 Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 If you have a look at the pic posted you can sort of see what is required. You would need AE86 front guards, bonnet, grill, lights and indicators and possibly bumper. You would cut the AE86 guards halfway through the wheel arch and weld them to the rear half of your KE70 guards. There would have to be some radiator support mods too to support the different lights and indicators. Have you noticed in that pic that the front of the car has a full bumper and the rear has a half bumper or normal KE70 one?? To me this makes the car look strange on the side angle. You would need to adapt a full bodykit to the car or at the least AE86 bumper on the rear also to balance it. It is a good idea, would cost more than you think and most people will probably not like it. The pop-up front off a Trueno would not look any good as it would not follow the normal lines of a KE70. SLW42 Posted February 18, 2009 Author Report Posted February 18, 2009 but how many 86 fronted keto's do you see getting around though it would be one of those hate it or love it things just like my paint job on the rolla and the 4k into the ae71 Quote
philbey Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 It'll b e a lot of work, just like turning a 4 into 2 door. Especially if you don't want to look like it's slapped full of bog. Quote
SLW42 Posted February 19, 2009 Author Report Posted February 19, 2009 yeah but if you take the time to do anything properly then it shouldnt matter!!! IF you do it properly Quote

LukeAE71 Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 The pop-up version would look no good at all, so you would need to use a normal AE86 front. Front guards for them are pretty easy to come by, and you don't necessarily need to buy a fully JDM tyt version either. ADM guards will do the trick. This is a difficult conversion, if it was cheap and easy, and/or cool it would have been done. Quote
SLW42 Posted February 19, 2009 Author Report Posted February 19, 2009 wats not cool about it then????????? then mayb not pop up lights but wats wrong with the flat front 86 lights??? Quote
Jason Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 The AU 86 front end has been put on a ke70/ae71, looks like a dog. Quote
