smeetsy1 Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 Do you actually run the electrical tape on your wheels? OR is it just a mock up of what it could look like with whitewalls painted on? Can you put up a close up of the tape on wheels? t.y. Quote

Can you put up a close up of the tape on wheels? t.y. haha no i just used it as a mock up on a previous set of super lites i had. At the moment I'm running a set of flappers (port-a-walls) that i have stripped back and painted with vinyl spray to create a smaller line. Their a little more durable than painted on ones and they can be redone at any time. Quote
benzo Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 What brand flappers do you run? Want to chuck 3" flappers on my dub, I been told that Omega's are very good. And I'd love to try one of those wheels on the back of my daily to see what the offset is like. Could you tell me what you paid for the rims? PM me if you like Cheers, Ben. Quote

Ive always run atlas flappers, never had any problems, durable and fit well. Although I'm not sure what the 3" version would be like, ive only ran 2". The 3" is only available in 15"+ for atlas. Whats your daily? not your ke20 right? Quote
benzo Posted May 8, 2009 Report Posted May 8, 2009 Ahk I've heard that Atlas are a bit hard and can cut into the tyre sidewall from other volkswagen owners, where as omega's are softer..and yeah I am after 15" for the beetle Nah mate KE20 lives in my grandparents shed lol, been dailying a VK Commodore and it hurts haha Cheers, Ben. They do actually cut into the sidewall, it hasn't bothered me as their quite thick and stiff making them sit well. What wheels are you planning to run on your VK? my brother used to drive one their such a poo mobile :P Quote
benzo Posted May 9, 2009 Report Posted May 9, 2009 No plans for the Commodore had it for quite a while, its for sale atm Quote
RA28GT Posted May 9, 2009 Author Report Posted May 9, 2009 This is a picture of the end section of my manifold, can anyone say scrape? I wont be lowering the front now :/ also the oil pan is a risk too although once manual it will sit a fraction higher (the gearbox crossmember is spaced down to fit the trimatic) Quote
RA28GT Posted May 9, 2009 Author Report Posted May 9, 2009 where do you get flappers from? price? I get mine from Antique Motor Spares ph. 8268 5540 33 Fourth St Wingfield SA 5013 I think hes up'd his price lately, their about $130 a set. I used to get them for $100 Quote
SLO-030 Posted May 9, 2009 Report Posted May 9, 2009 definatly shouldnt be that low :P any more pics of the rest of the headers and exhaust system? Quote
PMP020 Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 that exhaust is an easy fix. if you havnt got the skills to attack it yourself any exhaust place would be happy to cut a section out and raise it an inch or two for more ground clearance. cheers, scott Quote
13BT_KE20 Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 agreed, that is a quick, cheap and easy fit. Any exhuast shop will be able to raise that up. There should be ample room to raise it above the chassis rail because it is only a small diameter pipe Quote
RA28GT Posted May 10, 2009 Author Report Posted May 10, 2009 There's a fair amount of room down there, just a little bit more difficult because since it's the end of the manifold it will have to have both pipes run into a little Y piece, hopefully shouldn't cost too much at the moment it scrapes in my gravel driveway which is flat! Queen20v Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 I don't get time for the forum for a couple of weeks and come back to THIS!! Troy, it looks awesome. Where did you get that grill. Something tells me you got it for a good price too. Any chance you can help me get a set of those superlights? :D Quote
