dbr11k Posted May 29, 2009 Author Report Posted May 29, 2009 yeh sorta don't have 4 grand lying round at the moment though lol Quote
dbr11k Posted May 31, 2009 Author Report Posted May 31, 2009 hey all just a quick question , i have decided on quad throttles because i did a bit of researching and apparently it turns out to be a lot cheaper to do the conversion than i originally thought ! what i want to know is am i better off leaving my tvis plate on ( or maybe i HAVE to take off ? ) or taking it off when i do the conversion . i know i will need an aftermarket computer eventually so yeah. but am i going to lose power / gain power in taking the plate out ? cheers doof Quote
trav_555 Posted May 31, 2009 Report Posted May 31, 2009 Depends on cams, with big cams you take the tvis out even on stock manifold, with stock cams leave tvis in. Its really trial and error, to see what you prefer. I'm stripping out my tvis plate and using it as part of the adapter plate for the itb's Travis Quote
dbr11k Posted June 7, 2009 Author Report Posted June 7, 2009 ah k i will just have to see how i go, they reckon its not a really noticable difference anyways bit of an update, got quad throttles on the way, god i hate waiting :bash: just need a t3 adapter and some cash , still paying fines off from the defect so its a bit hard at the moment Quote
trav_555 Posted June 7, 2009 Report Posted June 7, 2009 What quads you getting? black or silvertop? What stuff you getting with the quads or is it just the quads on there own? What ecu you gonna run with the quads? Travis. Quote
Instigator Posted June 7, 2009 Report Posted June 7, 2009 I would imagine that the tvis will be useless with quads as it's purpose is to increase intake air speed which is the whole reason they put quads on the 20vs. Quote
dbr11k Posted June 7, 2009 Author Report Posted June 7, 2009 yeah thats sorta what i was thinking , would get better air flow with out tvis, plus I'm sure with quads there will be plenty of torque , s/t and probably just go with a razor back, I'm a tight arse and can't really afford an apadtronic etc Quote
trav_555 Posted June 7, 2009 Report Posted June 7, 2009 Can you solder/build electronic things? If so get a megasquirt, for around 450 you can get a heaps good megasquirt with a wideband sensor, you just build it yourself. What sized trumpets are you using? Do you want torque or top end? Travis. Quote
dbr11k Posted June 7, 2009 Author Report Posted June 7, 2009 (edited) I'm guessing to get pass the engineers cert I'm going to have to run an air box so i will worry about velocity stacks and all that later , same as all after market ecu's are illegal and wont pass engineers i will worry about it after i get it on the road oh nad I'm atorque junkie can't get enough thats why i bored out to 80 thou over Edited June 7, 2009 by dbr11k Quote
trav_555 Posted June 7, 2009 Report Posted June 7, 2009 Then when you get to velocity stacks make sure there as long as you can get them, cause the longer your intake them more torque :bash: Travis. Quote
ae174agze Posted June 7, 2009 Report Posted June 7, 2009 you can use ITB's on standerd ecu you just need vac from a few cyl's dogie idol but more power and responce uptop Quote
dbr11k Posted June 8, 2009 Author Report Posted June 8, 2009 i think thats the only part i don't get , the whole vacum cylinder thing , i have found 1 guide to fitting itb's but didnt quite get how to do it all i wanna run an after market ecu any ways cause I'm going ls1 coils packs aswell Quote
ae174agze Posted June 9, 2009 Report Posted June 9, 2009 you need vac for the map sensor and a few others, i'm pretty sure you might have to tap into 2 cyl's custom comp wont matter get a gze and go turbo its the only way Quote
Stixy Posted June 18, 2009 Report Posted June 18, 2009 you need vac for the map sensor and a few others, i'm pretty sure you might have to tap into 2 cyl's custom comp wont matter get a gze and go turbo its the only way F***ing Hell yes my son GTE.
