rbfrog Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 (edited) yeah it will be a fun little car especially with the hot motor. i reckon std engine it should see a high 12 and hot motor will see maybe low 11,s. but its not a drag car its a street car that il probly drive every day.i was trying to fit air con but engine mounts get in the way of the pump. ive got a drag skyline which should see in the 8second zone very shortly so this is just a bit of fun. ive put the flares to allow for wider tyre size i can fit around 235s on the rear. and yes the front apron is staying. it will look much better once its all painted one colour. the 290mm rotors I'm using i believe are peugeot but I'm getting custom struts made with a larger diameter wheelbearings to accomadate for the extra weight. the clutch is cable operated so that was easy, but I'm using a vs brake master which has been moved closer to the inner gaurd for more clearence. i was speaking to another guy who does head porting for some speed way cars runing v6 ecotecs and he says its possible to get close to 400hp at around 7000rpm with the right head mods (and other supporting mods). it will fly then, 850kgs with 400hp and massive amounts of torque. hold on. Damon550 Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 why does everyone hate these engines they are the same engine in TOYOTA LEXCEN'S so they can still be called a toyota in some ways haha i have a suzuki gsxr 600 and a 400hp rolla will have a similar power to weight ratio so it should be heaps of fun Quote
67Rolla-Ken Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 v6's are a shit motor. Why?? They are a great motor. I have a V6 Avalon, the thing flies! Revs like nothing else... got nothing on the Soarer V8, but as good as most stock holden and ford V8's. Quote
ROLLLA Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 (edited) don't listen to anyone bagging the V6. They have no idea how much fun your going to have in this car at a fraction of the cost of the usual conversions on this site. Youll be a hell of alot faster too. I got bagged but left them for dead at the lights when i done mine :) Edited February 11, 2009 by ROLLLA Quote

philbey Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 I wouldn't go so far to say it would be a fraction of the cost of other conversions, but it'll no doubt be fun. Quote
Johno Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 I heard from someone that the series 1 VN motor is crap but series 2 is heaps better and more reliable. I reckon you'll defiantly have fun in it when its done. Quote

I reckon you'll defiantly have fun in it when its done. S2 is so much better. We had an '89 Calais for a very short period of time, with a S1 engine which hated anything but idle, and sounded rougher than a soap-dropping incident in jail. We got rid of it after 6 weeks, and ended up with a '91 S2 Executive. Hasn't died yet :D Quote
ROLLLA Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 I wouldn't go so far to say it would be a fraction of the cost of other conversions, but it'll no doubt be fun. It cost me $1000 all up for the conversion so you tell me if thats a fraction of the cost. That included stage 2 shift kit, R31 diff and custom tailshaft. Quote

mitch4397 Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 (edited) Series 1's 3800's are rough as guts. But he said its the 147kw meaning its eco-tec(?) from VS or VT. They're alot more refined. Non the less it'll be beast with those mods. Edited February 19, 2009 by mitch4397 Quote
